I wonder sometimes why some news is so late in showing up. The official Japanese site for the show has shown English/Japanese subs in the specs for the blu-ray from the moment the first volume was listed, about a month ago.
Edit: This site http://www.tigerandbunny.net/product/index.html And no subs at all for the DVD. |

Viz Media is only streaming the anime in the United States, not in all of North America they do this with all of their streams.

While I'd love to buy these, if they are like 80$ like the usually are, there's just no way.

This pattern makes sense to me - DVDs are Region 2, and Blu-Rays are Region A. Region A includes the U.S. and Japan, and Region 2 only has Japan (I know it has more than just Japan, but in this context). While I like having English subs on imports, I have a creeping feeling that this it may cause a slowdown in U.S. imports of titles. |

R2 DVD also includes the UK, which if of course an English speaking country, so that logic is slightly flawed but I can see where you are coming from. I think it's more the case that DVD releases take the back seat when anime gets a DVD and BD release at the same time in Japan. Most anime fans in Japan buy Blu-ray if available, so why waste time putting subs on the DVD's when they; A - Won't sell that well. B - Less chance of people buying them for English import since only English speaking UK residents would be interested. |

And only include about 2-4 episodes per batch. |

Japanese-release Blu ray with English subs...
Looks like the middlemen (Funi, Viz, and the company that used to be ADV...) are getting cut off by this trend A lot of anime watchers would rather get subbed edition straight from Japan than wait months or even years for Funi et al. to release one with dubs anyway. |

I wonder how that demographic compares to the number of consumers who would rather take their chances and wait for an R1 release -- dubbed or sub-only -- to avoid paying prohibitively expensive Japanese prices. I know that price is far and away to biggest deterrent that keeps me from importing. |

Thanks but no thanks. Rather spend the cash on Kenshin.
