Currently, I'm hooked onto school rumble and have finished the whole series. I'm yearning for more, but can someone recommend humourous comedy as much as school rumble?

I'll second Azumanga Diaoh. It retains a lot of the subtle cultural humor and ocassional parodies, though there isn't any romantic comedy whatsoever. Well, maybe a little, but it's not taken into consideration that much.
I'd also recommend Kare Kano. This one is a little more serious with comedy on the side, but the romance is very well written. I hear many people talk about how they relate to the characters, so that's a plus if you want "slice of life" in a romantic depiction. And of course, GTO would fit into the high school comedy department as well. It's probably the best balanced of the three I've listed. It has a lot of comedy, a little romance, and a little drama for the serious side of things, with plenty of moral lessons from and for a majority of the characters (it's my #2 favorite series, by the way  ).
