Okay this is definately not true for all otaku, but many otaku do things that go up and beyond normal geekiness. My friends and I often talk about the plausability of giant robots in reallife. In case you care the general consensus is possibly nonhumanoid robots for use on Earth, they are at least plausable, and maybe humanoid robots for space use.

That defines your definition of "geekiness" or "nerdiness". It's pretty geeky of me to cosplay as a Team Rocket grunt. It's nerdy of me to think of the mechanics of a giant Pokémon mecha.

I agree. That was one of my things that I consider geeky. I want to find out the things other people do by their definition of geeky.
