Urrgghh, do not want.
I don't see how they could capture the comedic, self-parodying atmosphere of the show in a live-action setting. The exaggerative capability of animation was the primary component in making the comedy work; it was very much a series that was made to be a cartoon. This is like turning FLCL into a live-action movie.
Besides, Arakawa already got live action segments at the end of each episode. Or maybe that's where the idea stemmed from. :/

Will they do the whole eye close up thing like in the anime? =D And random shots of scenery too =P

I'm sure this will be very very scary >.< Live-action Star and Chief... I wonder how they will do Stella's transformations? I think this would be interesting to watch just to see HOW they do certain scenes and characters, though the results may be very cringe-worthy.

Haha, I'd watch an episode or two to give it a try. Arakawa the anime is so random! But yeah, they'd need some interesting special effects in certain parts...

I was so psyched up after jsut seeing the phrase Arakawa under the Bridge Gets, but then Ifinished the sentence, and was a little bit disappointed. Oh well, I'll still watch it. o;

Hopefully, if it does well, we'll see more anime seasons. (>")>

So true! If I get caught watching it by a non-fan I'll be reinforcing the stereotype of "crazy/weird Japanese TV" that many of the people I know have. (MXC anyone?)

I don't understand the complaints; Arakawa has as much potential as a sort of ironic drama as it does as an over-the-top comedy. And the two aren't mutually exclusive. Arakawa is just as much about the characters - probably more so, even - as it is about the inane anime tropes that complement their interactions. Surely there will be some differences in comedic execution, but that's nothing a good director can't handle. Looking forward to this very much, myself, as it has the potential to delve into some aspects of the story that neither the anime nor the manga have touched.

I could swear that this is an april fool's hoax...
I mean, look at that scanned double page, it announces "Official homepage autb.jp to open on April 1". And that page does not even EXIST yet (ok yeah except for that Apache test thing... but it is April 1 in Japan right now already)

It's obvious Japanese live-action is running out of ideas! Laughing

I also was extremely happy to see Arakawa getting something, but now I wish there was nothing at all.

Seriously seeing a live action Stella is not a image I ever want to see. Just like a live action Billy. Imagine a half bird like man who with a cool attitude in live action.

But if this is what it takes to get a third season (which I really would seriously enjoy seeing) then I suppose it's all right. There isn't enough shows that match Arakawa's off the wall comedy anymore.
