I am asking you guys why you think YGO is kiddy I heard from non-gamefaqs sources that the uncut version is very dark and it will creep you out just asking you. Have you ever seen the unedited version of YGO?

Look. Dude, your last thread was shut down, why are you opening another one? No one wants to listen to your incessant bitching & moaning, and the fact that your only proof is what some half-wit on GameFAQs said is a true testament to your own ignorance!
Don't you think that people on a respectable anime forum would know about anime better than some insecure mental defective on a gaming forum notorious for being an idiots' haven? Why don't you try this amazing new concept called listening for once? It's a very useful tool.

Uh, didn't your original thread get shut down? I think no one really cares about this. So I'll do a quick wrap up. 4kids markets kiddy anime for kids. Sometimes they have to edit their anime due to cultural things that American kids wouldn't get or for nudity and blood. Whinning about it is not going to change things. You're making a bigger deal out of this than it really is. In others words, stop complaining!!

now, now....let's not be too harsh.....I read the the locked thread, but let the mods make the call on this new one.....
Asaqe....I think you have to frame your questions carefully...otherwise, this is gonna end up like your previous post.......your topic refers to "4kids" and yet you asked about YuGiOh, so you have to be a wee bit clearer as to what you're asking or where you're going with this, aight?
kewl....

My apologies to everyone for the harshness of my post. But the fact that this Asaqe person truly seems to not listen to anyone here is genuinely frustrating.
I think I'm beginning to understand how Zac feels whenever people ask him unending questions about the second season of Hellsing, or who is gonna license Naruto.

Indeedy.
I could care less about YGO. As for 4kids, I don't support them financially but they do bring anime to America and that is worth something to me.
Personally, I think Nagisa first post was appropriate, since this this is now the 3rd thread on this drivel.

No, my headache is returning.... Anyway, I'll take two aspirin and be fine.
One thing that bothers me is the incessant use of the word "kiddy" on this and many other anime forums. I quess it's just a pet peeve, I shouldn't complain - it's better than the often used derivative "kitty" (which I can only assume means TV made for cats). Still, would it be so bad to use the standard term "kid's show."
OK, that was my totally off-topic rant. As far as 4kids, bottom line, it's just entertainment. Let's all get pissed off about things that actually matter.

Yugioh is a children's show. It was made for Japanese tweens, people between 7 and 13 years of age, not teenagers.
When it was imported to North America 4Kids intended to aim it at a similar age group here. But the North American standards for acceptable content to broadcast to children is different than it is in Japan.
What's more, children are not as open to foreign, different material as adults are.
An uncensored, unedited YuGiOh would not have succeeded in North America. The Networks would not have been able to air it in any children's blocks, and older teens would have been for the most part uninterested in it.
Likewise, had it been edited to be made acceptable for children, but the foreign elements left in, the children would not have watched it. Children don't like to be confused.
Quite simply, if 4Kids had brought the show over the way you would have liked them to they would have been saddled with a dud. The idea isn't commercially viable.

Hey folks (er... minus the last couple), let's keep the conversation on topic. The OP was different than the other thread, so let's just focus on that.
Regardless of how dark a show is, it doesn't make it less of a kid's show. Shaman King is a series about death, the underworld, and spirits/ghosts, but it's still a kid's show. Naruto is filled with death and violence, but it was aimed at young boys and adolescents. The same goes for YuGiOh. Despite the dark overtones of the original series, it's still a kid's show.
What defines a kid's show? A kid's show is any show that was created with kids as the target audience. In this case, YuGiOh. No matter if its YuGiOh or Pokemon, a show aimed at kids is still that-- a show aimed at kids. A common misconception is that a "kiddy" show is something almost insulting to older viewers, like Miffy Goes to School or Hello Kitty Learns to Count. No, those are infant/toddler/young children shows. "Kids" means anyone anywhere up to age 12 or 13.
Even if all the US fans in the world thought that YuGiOh was a show made for young adults, it doesn't change the fact that the original creator made it for kids.

Well, the edited version is kinda more for kids but the unedited version has profanity, violence and I think some mild nudity. 4kids just edited it so kids could watch it also.

Now, as far as profanity goes, oftentimes fansubbers will insert it where it really doesn't exist, or bump up the existing foul language to make it "grittier" (changing a casual "Aw damn." to a full on "SHIT DAMN SON OF A BITCH!!!" ). Why? Because some fansubbers are just as childish & insecure as the anti-4Kids crowd, and don't want to accept that they like kid's shows.
As for the rest of your post. Please, frostedsaiyan, you don't really believe all that nonsense you just typed, do you? We just had a bit debate about that...

Who cares if it's a kid show? If you like it, watch it.

Its like with the people on the AS forums. They keep saying DBZ should be UNCUT on AS, but everyone tells them, "No," then they always reply, "Have you seen the UNCUT version?"
Most are too stubborn to beleive that things considered "adult" in America are ok to show in children's cartoons everywhere else. In fact, doesn't Inuyasha come on Toonami is several other countries?

Yes, even shows like Naruto and One Piece are kids shows. These shows are awesome but they are still still kids shows.
