ANOTHER UC manga. -sigh-
And a REMAKE of a manga adaptation of an anime. Ya know, EW Glory of the Defeated made a lot more sense to make.

I'm so glad I did not have a mouthful of coffee when I read that.

Some of the characters might be douches (especially Nina) but that animation quality was glorious. If they can even match that it'd be quite something to see. Lets cross that bridge if we come to it though....which we probably won't.

The anime was pretty bad, don't know if a revisit to the same story and characters sounds like a good idea. Especially since this ,by being a manga obviously, won't have the fantastic animation and art design.

No because the fans have no actual level that can be reached where they will consider something decent anymore. It is literally impossible and I wish they would stop pretending already.
Seriously Gundam has the shittiest fandom now, all I know is at least I still enjoy it for the most part.

0083's still my favorite Gundam. The writing? The characters? Who cares, SPLOSIONS and gorgeous designs.

Ugh. Gundam 0083 was a travesty. All those good production values wasted by unlikeable characters and a terrible story.
Let's hope this just stays one of hundreds of ignored Gundam manga.

Hell yeah, Robot Top Gun!
Honestly, I would take a remake of one of the hottest blooded Gundam series to date any day over androgynous pretty boy AU stuff that just ends up being a slightly altered remake of 0079 anyways.

Probably cause your not used to people actually telling it like it is and everyone just agreeing how shitty this or that Gundam show is compared to the other "shitty" one. This is coming from a Gundam fan too, one who's appreciation for the franchise hasn't given way to unbridled resentment like seems to be the norm nowadays. I think the current culture of the Gundam fandom is positively toxic and a total turnoff, especially the ones that post in every Gundam related thread here to complain about just how shitty they think the writing always is and how the next project is just going to be this huge abomination. You'd think the Gundam fandom was so hard done by the way people complain constantly and even in advance of things. It honestly reminds me of Star Trek fans.

So you want a remake of G Gundam than? Because it's not 0083 at all.
This isn't Robot Top Gun, that's Macross Plus. The leads here are too bland to be anything close.
I'm really surprised anyone is describing 0083 as Hot Blooded when the leas of 0083 is Kou Iraki, a dude who had to get a book to understand women.

I only thought the story and characters got terrible near the end, what with the director swap and all. You know the plot twist that comes at the last minute.
Otherwise, I really liked it.

The only real issue I have with the story is the clear and obvious plot hole (like actual indisputable plot hole not just a plot element I didn't like like how people use the term now) of Nina not recognizing Gato when they are in the hangar on Earth and then later on the totally out of nowhere revelation that they were apparently lovers and she's really a Zeon. Also her shooting Kou and then them somehow ending up together on Earth and him apparently not having any sort of trauma upon seeing her again made no real sense.
I assume that's the plot twist you were talking about. If so yeah, not really a good note to end on, though unlike some of the people here it didn't ruin the entire experience for me and turn it into some sort of utter "travesty".

Yes cause Maverick and Iceman are both such endearing and memorable characters who we recall for the depth of their resolve and humanity as opposed to the awkward homo-erotic tension they have goin with each other the entire movie.
