Does anybody know of any other websites where I can buy the Dragonball Z baseball shirt and the kickass American Football jersey that the ZStore sells as the bastards won't ship to the UK and Europe due to licensing issues [even tho there's hardly any decent merchandise here anyway and what few pieces do make it that's officially licensed for Europe is usually crap...] and this store in Leeds called City Cyber Anime wanted an obscene £60.00 for a baseball shirt and £70.00 for a American Football Jersey even tho when I checked the prices for the same items via the Universal Currency Converter, they're a lot cheaper!
DBZ American Football Jersey DBZ Baseball Shirt I've tried all the major online stores that I can think of that sell anime merchandise and I've had no luck... So if anyone can help me out, I'd be really grateful... |

Don't call FUNimation a bunch of bastards because they won't ship to a country they don't have distribution rights in. |

You should post this in the RETAIL section of these forums, where this thread should be. Delta Kiral |

Wow, those are really ugly.
Maybe you could get them from a third party importer? |

Did you try Ebay or amazon.com. I'm sure one person is willing to sell it through there probably a little more money you have to pay due to shipping and handling and the person selling it probably wants a profit, but check there and try and get a better price.

I really don't think the "Z Warriors" (ugh) would use condoms. I mean, at least not Vegeta or Goku. Don't wanna hurt their pride, now. And don't even get me started on Master Roshi. A condom would contradict his entire existence. The man lives to [bleep] girls, and I doubt he'd take time to say, "Hey, baby, just let me grab a condom and I'll be all set. Hoo hoo hoo!" |

StarwindArmada; If I want to call Funimation bastards for not thinking about licensing DBZ in the UK and Europe even tho the dub is to all extents and purposes dubbed by the same people that do the US dub then I damn well will call them bastards! And if you have a problem with that, I couldn't care less about your opinion...
Is it any wonder a lot of people are importing expensive merchandise from the States in bulk to the UK as it's a damn sight cheaper, even with customs charges than buying from rip-off merchants... Hell, I would hardly ever buy anime DVD's officially released here as I know they're inferior to the US releases... With Viz, I don't like the fact that they totally fucked up in the UK with their so-called releases which I think are too-little, too late whereas practically every other manga publisher, especially TokyoPop are willing to cater for the UK market! Companies like Viz and Funimation should realise that there's a market in the UK that would be more than willing to buy subs to stuff like Shonen Jump and sort out licensing issues for the UK while Funimation should sort out licensing for the UK as well so we can buy merchandise from them at a fair price without being ripped off... |

Um... We get Shonen Jump.
Just because we don't have domestically published goods, doesn't mean that the goods aren't available. |

Hey I own the football jersey, and it looks a lot better in person. I actually wore it to both A-Kon and AnimeFest this year and got only good comments, and I could tell they weren't being sarcastic. So, to all who think it's a fashion disaster, bless your heart.

It's an American company looking to serve the American market. Why should they pay more to license a title in an area that they won't service? It's not like they can get European licensing rights for free. If anything, you would need to place the blame on the Japanese company for not selling their products and merchandise in the UK. Things aren't always as simple as you want them to be. |

There are alot of rules broken here for oone the language and two starwind stay on the topic and three this is in the wrong catagory should be in retail(didn't see that at first).
And for me to be on topic,Funimation is an american company that will not get licensing rights for the UK because basically they don't think that they'll make as much money. If they thought there was profit believe me you that'll they would of gotten the rights to license their products at the UK. Not to be mean to you one3rd but that's how the world works. Money is the key to everything, well most things anyways. |

I know Shonen Jump is available in the UK, but the thing is, it's not kind of meant to be available in the UK unlike most manga titles available in the UK...
Basically when most publisher license manga in English, they tend to pick up licenses not only for North America, but for other areas like the UK, Australia/New Zealand and South Africa... Amongst the companies that do this are TokyoPop [who also had the cajones to see the potential of a market in the UK when a lot of others didn't], Dark Horse, Del Rey, ADV Manga... Hell, even Gutsoon when they were still around made sure to get licenses for the UK as well as North America... My point is, it's got to be certainly something when one of the biggest publishers in manga [Viz] doesn't even think that the UK is worthy enough to have their manga legally imported whereas TokyoPop as I already said think that there's so much potential here that we have our own version of the Rising Stars of Manga competition, some manga actually have UK prices on the back, the latest issue of Neo actually has a TokyoPop preview manga exclusive to the UK AND they attend cons like London Expo as well as attending Brighton Expo next month... As far as I'm concerned, I still think Viz left it too little, too late with their so-called manga releases over here... I find it insulting that a company like Viz are only interested in us Brits now that they've seen TokyoPop make a serious wad of cash from us buying their manga and I feel that if they really cared about us Brits, they'd sort out the licensing issue by doing what the other manga publishers are doing, obtaining the English language rights for the UK and the rest of the English-speaking world... I mean, it's not only the Americans who speak English, right? Over here, they have on official release, Yu-Gi-Oh, Fushigi Yuugi, Case Closed [a overhyped piece of crap] and Dragonball [not Z] and rather than setup a UK office, they distribute the titles thru Victor Gollancz publishers at £4.99 a volume which I think is a realistic price for kids but surely Viz should have realised that a lot of kids in the know will have already picked up the American releases plus what's the odds that others upon seeing the American releases in their local comic shop will end up buying those over the UK releases... I know I will... As for Anime DVD's over here, I just find them too expensive for the most part to buy because they just swap for a lot of the titles the $ sign for the £ sign so that's why I buy a lot of them online from retailers like AnimeNation. I know things will get better eventually for the Anime/Manga fandom in the UK and that one day we'll have cons that'll kick the ass of the big US ones but I'm still angry at the attitude of certain companies that don't think us Brits are good enough to buy their products legally on import even tho we're more than happy to buy them at slightly-inflated or hugely inflated prices from importers here or online in the US... I'm sorry for repeating some things I said in the previous post but I just wanted to expand upon them just in case certain people didn't get what they were about... As for the Retail section of the forum, I thought that was for retailers not members of the public. When it comes to Anime clothing, it's quite popular over here, especially anything Dragonball Z related... I even own a long sleeved T-shirt featuring Vegita, Trunks and Goku in Super Saiyan mode which I wear on the odd occasion when I go clubbing AND it helped me get a date with a cute Japanese girl a while back as well! |
