This idea just popped into my head, what if they made a Matrix cartoon series? Would you watch it? Like the idea? and yes I know about animatrix, it does not need to be brought up if I do or not.

I don't know if a Matrix cartoon series would work with the way the story line is heading - from what I have heard the next two movies are going to fill in the gaps and bring it to a conclusion. However, if the Matrix was the only movie released (no Reloaded) then I would have to say, yes it would be posible to make a cartoon series in the Matrix universe.

They can make a series out of anything and ignore parts of the movie its based on. In the MIB cartoon K was there even though after the movie he was gone.
I think it would be interesting to just have it in the universe but I could see it getting annoying you know? Like when they make too many sequals and the series suffers (Jurassic Park) or you end up seeing so many promotions and extra you get sick of hearing about it (Dragon Ball Z)

Yes that would be shit,we already have a Star Wars cartoon series coming out we dont need a matrix one as well.Although I think the Star Wars series is set between episode 2 and 3 so it could be alright. You mention the MIB series and well just look at it,its rubbish.
I know you said not to bring up the animatrix but I simply have to,is it not that the animatrix inspired the idea to pop into your head rather than it simply popping into your head.Anyhows thats my grumble about a theoretical series over.

A -cartoon- series...?

I would imagine would be akin to the Jackie Chan Adventures..

A whitewashed fight between Neo and his gang of Zion do-gooders versus the evil Agent Smith clones. Their goal is to acquire/disable certain computer parts ("The 12 legendary CPUs of the Matrix! We must destroy them all!")

The typical episode would involve Neo getting word from the Zion underground that there's a CPU located somewhere in some major city and that Neo has to destroy it.

Agent Smith will invariably bug the transmission, and having discovered the CPU will attempt to use its MYSTIC POWERS will try to escape into the real world. Of course, for whatever reason it takes Smith just as long to get to the CPU (in LA or NYC or Lamerville or whereever) as Neo, and so they have a battle around the CPU with all sorts of spinny camera tricks and impossible stunts.

Neo wins and disables the CPU (since, if they were destroyed, then everyone IN the Matrix would die.. right?), and Smith goes back into hiding until a new CPU is located.

In one episode, Smith would escape from the Matrix, but would either be defeated in the real world and de-rez or something ("new" cartoons use this method as a form of death), or else fall back into the Matrix through clever positioning (Neo trips Smith thru the Matrix Portal. Yay.)

Invariably, there would also be a Neo-Smith switch episode, where Neo hops in the Matrix and finds that he's now an Agent Smith, while Smith finds he's on the outside world as Neo. Hillarity ensues as Neo acts like Smith yet all of his companions think he's still Neo... and Smith acts like Neo yet all the Smiths think he's still Smith! Ho-ho-ho...

It would last 26 episodes, except that by episode 20 it's obvious that it's so popular it needs to continue, so they let Smith capture 11 of the CPUs, but Neo has the one remaining CPU, and Smith can't escape the Matrix without that final CPU.

Ignore any plot holes, -this- is Matrix Adventures! ;)

Whoo, someone has been watching too much Jackie Chan adventures haven't they?

In general cartoon to movie transitions usually just suck overall. Men in Black, Stargate Infinity, Godzilla, Evolution, they were all just awful attempts to make a quick buck. Only series that I can think of that was actually worth watching was the old Ghostbuster cartoon, there was a lot of originality in those and when all else fails there were thousands of legends and myths to fall back on.

For a matrix cartoon to work it would need both exception writing to parallel the movies and some animation with real cutting edge style to it. I guess that would be a no-brainer, but if the movie can get these astronomical budgets I don't know why a cartoon series could work magic with just a fraction of it and make it back in merchandise.

Not bashing american cartoons here, just the movie tiein ones.

I dunno know Cookie... sounds kinda farfetched... 12 CPUs?

Both you and I KNOW for a fact that one of them is actually an unruly, overclocked processor that must be trapped inside a Magic Debugging Cage. He gives an elusive clue to the 9th CPU, which turns out to be a phantom server who only poses as a CPU to scare the villagers. Neo has to arm himself with cool Kannons to dismember the server's Ultimate Deadly Lethal Overheating Attack. Turns out, that's just his primary form. If he goes berserk, he transforms into a crazed desktop with rampaging peripherals that randomly send people inside the Matrix "into a mysterious dimension" everytime it pings itself.

It'll feature two children sidekick, one an energetic and overly smart multi-ethnic girl, and her buddy-flickish partner, a computer geek who looks uncannily like Owen Wilson.

Duh. Where have you been lately? 12 CPUs. Honestly... -_-

Sorry. Obviously I wasn't thinking.

Please, please, can you ever EVER forgive me? I promise I won't ever make a bad joke ever again. Even on April Fools Day!

You know, that show wouldn't be anything without powerups! All through the series Neo is given Vitamins (kid friendly version of the pills) to help him through the tight situations! Takes lime vitamin to get Knight armor, takes strawberry vitamin to become invisible, etc. Hey, just can't have a good cartoon without the proper upgrades!
