Honestly? I would say no, for the basic fact that it's a little too specific compared to the other genres the Encyclopedia tends to make use of. To use such rudimentary genre labels as "Comedy," "Horror," "Action," "Drama," and suddenly get into specifics with "Political Drama," seems a bit off. Also, as I understand it, there are plans to reformat that entire section of the Encyclopedia anyway.

And personally, I honestly didn't find Gundam Wing to be all that political to begin with. Just seemed to me like a bunch of futuristic aristocrats in 18th century period clothing spouting off faux-philosophising nonsense from their oh-so-thinly conceived seats of power. Other mech anime, such as many of the other Gundam series (Mobile Suit Gundam, Turn-A Gundam, the four Universal Century OVAs, even Gundam SEED, to name a few) and Gasaraki, and other sci-fi anime like Banner of the Stars and Ghost in the Shell: Stand-Alone Complex, managed far better in terms of political-based drama. It felt as though thought were actually put into the political structure of those series, and in cases like Gasaraki & Ghost in the Shell, they were "near" enough into the future to draw actual basis from the real-world political setup.

Although these titles have some political elements in them, politically speaking they are no match for real-life politics settings, such as Kosaku Shima series (Section Chief -> Manager -> Board Member), Iihito, Silent Service, and Sanctuary.

Strangely enough: US licensors seem to have no interest importing these titles (except Sanctuary). The average quality of socio-political-economics titles is much better than that of those licensed titles in any American bookstore.

k thanks for your views......gundam wing is still one of my favourite anime's.
you've got a point political drama is a bit to specific.but then if all genres were specific wouldnt it be easier to find what your looking for.
