Black Rock Shooter is only 20 bucks? Good, I was worried they might charge 30-40 for it. Instant buy of course.

"The figure was apparently available in prize-catcher machines in Japan, so anyone who buys the North American special-edition can tell themselves that they dropped about $30 in a claw-crane game."
Considering the limited availability (and diversity) of imported figures in America, $30 doesn't seem that bad. It may have been a common prize in Japan, but elsewhere in the world where such figures aren't cranked out in the masses, we take what we can get. |

it's been an interesting ride for the Wii. The Wii probably had so many odd titles due to it being cheaper to develop for, thus meaning smaller devs could make games without worrying about costs too much. Here's to the Wii U having just as offbeat of a library.

Yeah, the Wii did kinda have a good run (although a lot of their titles were shovelware), at least it had some good niche titles.
Some of the other stuff mentioned here is just half and half. (In the meantime, still waiting for the PSN store to update for Malicious for PS+, but due to Maintenance and stuff. >_>) |

"but they missed their chance to make a stuffed Teepo to go with the stuffed Drippy from the Ni no Kuny set"
One of the Japanese LE sets actually did come with a stuffed Teepo. While I own that, I didn't buy Ni no Kuni in any form (and have little interest in doing so; might consider it when it comes down to around $20) so I still won't have them sitting next to each other. I guess Gamestop is the only option for the Xillia LE, so I'll need to remember to drop by and order that soon. Normally I prefer to use Amazon, but in this case I want the game ASAP and it would be quicker/cheaper to use Gamestop for that. |

Ahhh, Sin and Punishment! Now that's one rail shooter that gets ridiculous even on the Easy setting. Of course, peeps said using Kachi is a lot harder than using Isa, but dammit at least she rides a freakin' hoverboard and melee kicks her enemies.

I was given a red Wii as a gift a few years ago, I only have a few games for it. A few fighters for my collection, but a few of the exclusive "hardcore" games like MadWorld and No More Heroes. Not much else beyond that. Never even used the Virtual Console. Mm, perhaps if I ever pick up a Wii U.
And just how many heads tall is that girl in the Fatal Frame IV shot? And people complain about Bayonetta's proportions. |

I think most of those fans already imported the Japanese game (possibly twice) and their bookcase has been happily populated with the necessary nerd item(s) for over a year. And they will probably pick up the US version anyway, so no need to worry about that. Sooooo, on that topic, when can we see Fate/Extra CCC coming out over here.... these darn hybrid visual novel games are a pain in the ass to someone with the Japanese skills of a 2 year old. |

I was in GameStop over the weekend, picking up (probably) my last DS game, Pokemon White 2. I wandered over to the Wii section, and they had Zelda: Skyward Sword still for $40. I would have thought with the WiiU out now, the Wii games would be much less expensive, but since the Wii U is backwards compatible, I guess not?
I *almost* picked up Paper Mario, but decided against it. I'll probably be kicking myself later. |

Videogame Mysteries: Sakaguchi did say, "Use your imagination." I like to believe Gestahl had the Returners disposed of when he realized they outlived their usefulness to him (because they vanish before the Floating Continent rises; you can check Vector prior to ascending to it and no, they're not in Narshe or the Returner Base).
Tales of Xillia: The CE has quickly sold out already in a number of places. Glad I was quick and pre-ordered it on Sunday. The Wii Retires: I think the Wii set out to accomplish what it was supposed to, in my opinion. It was a nifty console, and the VC service was a good way to add some classics to it. I just wish they could have made good on the promise to put the original Lufia on VC. As for games I enjoyed on it, here's a short list: *Arc Rise Fantasia - Yeah yeah, the Wii JRPG with a horrid English dub, but its strategic turn-based Grandia-like gameplay and slightly higher than intermediate difficulty makes it a winner...that I need to get back to and finish. Trust me, the boss battles are challenging and keep you thinking. *Kirby's Epic Yarn - I know people have mixed opinions about this, but overall it was worth playing. Few games have ever given me a warm fuzzy feeling like this one did. It's relaxing at times, and can be challenging (read: frustrating) with all the extra stuff if you want to collect everything. *Kirby's Return to Dream Land - Definitely the Kirby game to play if you've been craving more of the pink puff. I know there's a choice between this and Kirby's Dream Collection, but I would recommend this one more. Dream Collection is just an anniversary pack, and while those are fun, they don't offer anything new (the challenge races are just copied from Return to Dream Land). *Muramasa: The Demon Blade - Despite its surface level translation, it was a fine game to own on this system. It wasn't as strong in story as Odin Sphere, but it was still a fun romp. Of course, with the retranslated Vita version coming out, this one will be rendered obsolete in comparison, but it's better to listen to full sound from your TV and not having to strain your neck playing. *Phantom Brave: We Meet Again - Despite the PSP Hermuda Triangle being the fully bonus-packed version since it's just We Meet Again with more stuff, I consider this version the best. Like ARF, I haven't yet finished the main story and need to get back to it. It's still a great game with plenty of Nippon Ichi's signature insane customization options. Probably one of the best games you can have on the Wii and the story is really compelling. *Super Paper Mario - Paper Mario fans are weird. They praise the first two games, hated this one in the past and now like it much more because Sticker Star was worse by comparison. In any case, SPM is definitely one of the most entertaining games you can play on the Wii. Sure you can get through it fast, but it's always more fun to do stuff outside the main story. Plus, you'll love the various references they crammed in here. *Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World - Despite its status as an escort Tales, it's not really as horrid as it's made out to be. Sure, the new characters bothered some and the Symphonia veterans were greatly powered down, but I actually found myself replaying this one quite a bit. And yes, the monster system was a neat feature. Only Narikiri Dungeon X made use of it again, but we didn't get that one, now did we? It's fun having a party of monsters ripping stuff up with Tales heroes. I wish they'd do it again, but probably not happening in any mothership title. *Tatsunoko vs. Capcom - It's rare now, but if you have it, kudos. It's a highly enjoyable fighting game and I'm not even huge on fighters. If you happen to really like Tatsunoko's various anime, then you can't go wrong with this. It's probably one of the few pieces of anything with Tatsunoko in it that we have in the U.S. So there's my list. Sadly, the Wii's time has come and gone, and now we move on to the next so-called "graphically superior" console. Sigh... Nintendo always keeps their big games at high prices. I remember Miyamoto once said something like "A game is still as good now as when it came out" when asked why they don't lower the prices... it kinda sucks. |

I find it funny that this column kept proclaiming how dead the PSP was despite still getting a string of decent rpgs, yet the Wii which no one would argue hasn't been dead for at least 2 or 3 years, you claim just ended. Really? So the Wii gets last second limited run prints of games that are at least a couple of years old and its alive. And the psp gets brand new games its dead. Righhhhhhhhhhhtttttttttt.
But your comment on trouble shooters shows that you do no research and have no common knowledge on the subject. So please dont comment on the topic. There are plenty of overly rare games, some numbering even in the 100s (that is relatively high compared to some numbering in the tens) that never appear on ebay or other retailers. And you expect something that has 5 and 2 copies respectively to just poof appear. Really. Capcom vs Tatsunko had a pre order pack of cards with the game on its US release. Alledgelly some of those cards were actually signed. I have yet to see one sell on ebay, but I dont deny that it probably is true. DMC 3 got 100 run on each system copies signed by the producer, I have only seen it sell on ebay twice in a span of over 7 years and that is watching the site constantly. When is the last time you saw an Assassin Case copy of Elemental Gearbolt? Kizuna Encounters Pal version etc? Disgaea released a set of promo panties with the release of Prinny 2 limited to 50 copies. I have never seen these sold. These games and promos are rare, and you would literally have to watch ebay for years on a day to day basis and you might see. To make some crapsack blurb because you have never seen its amounts to nothing. The psp failed in america and we let it happen for a huge list of reasons that I really don't feel like going over. Despite this failing it is thriving greatly in japan which is why great games are still being made for it that we will never see so there is nothing we can do. Simply put america is not a hand-held market for gaming outside of phones/tablets get over it. |

Black Rock Shooter might be the absolute worst game that came out last year. Random iOS garbage notwithstanding.
Trust me when I say it, don't do it. You will cry yourself to sleep if you spend money on this. |
