I really like the first two Crow films. I haven't read the manga, but since they're prequels they stand really well on their own. Yeah, they're over-the-top and cheesy (Miike at his best), but I find fascinating how he stages the fights and violence in both films.
Miike effectively transmitted the idea that the characters are youth delinquents with no discipline or fighting technique. So basically all fights consist of a bunch kids clumsily beating the hell out of each other. Good stuff. |
