Hello, I know a lot of anime fan hate 4kids on the fact that they won't make uncut DVDs (or bad ones in the case of Shamen King and Yu-Gi-Oh). I have decided to unite all 4kids hating anime fans. Some of you may say that I'm crazy or I have too much time on my. Well you are half right I do have too much time on my hands (due to disabites I can not work or go to school). But this is not why I'm doing it. I'n doing because I want to see Pokemon, Tokyo Mew Mew and One Peice uncut and hopefully won't Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch butchrted by the evil empire. So please join the P.O.A.

(id this a agesnt the rules please deleate)

I think the right way is to speak with your money, dont buy the cut DVD's. Now haveing said that I also think you should write them a descriptive letter stateing why you wont buy their sub par cut DVD's, as them to not missunderstand why there bottem line is dropping.
This way when they claim pirates stole thier treasure Shocked and they blame everyone but themselves, you at least wil know better Cool

You might want to also write the networks.

Oh unless something has changed realy recently - Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch was said to been owned by ADV, but they recently announce they where not going to release the title. So as far as I know no US company has the Liscense.

That's a shame because now it's fair game for 4Kids or Nelvana. I do understand that it simply wasn't practical for ADV to invest in the license if they couldn't get a network to air it. Too bad, it looks like a really cute show.

You should also note that while 4Kids is editting Naruto for television and dubbed DVD release, Viz will be releasing it uncut on DVD, with the original Japanese track. I'm still wondering why there needs to be two sets of DVDs but whatever.

The reason they stopped making uncut DVDs is because they didn't do well enough. As much as companies say they care about fans, they care about money first and foremost. So its not really 4Kids fault for discontinuing a product that wasn't doing that well.

im gonna save teh anime from teh e\/!L $4kids!!11 Muh webpge willz UNTIE all teh 4kids' h8ters. Well stop em from destroying a defining Japanese cultural artifact like Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pichi

cough... cough...

Sorry, had something stuck in my throat there.

It will prove as successful as the S.O.S petition of years gone by. If you actually want the entirely un-edited versions of the shows, you're going to have make it financially profitable for the companies licensing the shows to release the editions on DVD. So far, it's not been that good for it. There are only a few older anime fans that wanted Pokemon DVD's with 80 seconds or so added back in where Pikachu bought some porn and a sixer of Natty Lite or whatever they think they are missing.

4Kids isn't in it for their health. They are in it for the money, pure and simple. And they do a good job at making that money all the while introducing a whole generation of American children to anime.

Wow, you heard that little, callow voice of preteen "defiance" coming from this thread, too?

Anyway, you and all of your 4Kids-hating friends had your chance to buy these shows uncut when 4Kids conceded to start releasing series in that format by way of FUNimation. They even made early promises that they would get around to One Piece, Tokyo Mew Mew, etc. in due time. But you didn't take that chance, didn't buy the uncut DVDs (yeah, they weren't exactly as widely available, but that excuse can only go so far), and now 4Kids has discontinued them because, as they suspected all along, the market just isn't there. If you're going to cry about getting uncut releases, you have to meet 4Kids halfway on this and be willing to buy them, to financially support them.

Maybe...MAYBE if you get enough fans to start sending in intelligent, legible letters (written on paper, as e-mail & online petitions have become nothing more than a joke to these companies thanks to your fellow interneteers) and thoughtfully-formulated phone calls en masse, 4Kids will consider reopening their plans for uncut releases. But seeing as how you turned them away once before, it'll probably take a lot more convincing now. And looking at your website, I honestly don't have much confidence that you'd be able to convince them of anything, really.

It's not just a petition its kind of group who hate 4kids. I mean that Al Kahn interveiw, he avoided a lot of questions and made it sound he was talking to a little kid.

Personally, I think we need to hit up the FCC and the Japanese producers for letting their product get hacked, but the the record I'm never been on a board with so many grammar Nazis. This makes me miss the [as] boards so much more. I'm out Confused

Well, if it's against the rules, you're not supposed to post it to begin with. Have you read Teh Rules at all? The FAQ is good reading too. Pay attention to the part about online petitions.

I just thought I’d point out that S.O.S. was almost completely successful in their attempt (if you’re thinking of the same S.O.S. I am, that is). It took several years, but unless I’m mistaken, uncut DVDs were indeed released for every season of Sailor Moon except Sailor Stars, as well as all three movies. Of course, it’s possible that all of that would have happened with or without their help, but their campaign was so massive and thorough, it’s hard for me to believe that. The only goal they never reached was bringing Sailor Stars to the US.

However, the only reason S.O.S. was successful is because the folks who ran the campaign and the fans of Sailor Moon all hung on for years. Most people who take on things like this give up fairly quickly, as soon as it becomes clear there is no quick, easy fix for their issue. They aren't willing to put much effort into it, and that's why they fail.

P.O.A. will only succeed if its creator refuses to give up, even after many years, and there are legions of fans backing it up.

Oh please. Evil empire? Don't you think you're over sensationalizing things just a tad bit? It's one company with a handful of anime titles that they felt needed further editing to reach US childrens TV standards. Nothing more, nothing less.

4Kids already knows people are out there that would like to see their shows unedited. They know the demand is there, but demand doesn't pay the bills money does and the money just hasn't been there.
