I can only imagine this manga being a series of vignettes in which these 13-year-old siblings have to explain to different people how their older siblings are not related and it's okay for them to date each other.
And I say that with nothing but fondness.

Ehhhh, I don't know about this lol. Plus it's been so long since the first series though I'm guessing it can be a stand alone. I liked Marmalade Boy though so maybe I'll check this out.

Thirteen years would be a long time to date. I assume they are married by now, or at least living together.

No way man, then Miki wouldn't be "pure."
...Oh wait, never mind, this is shoujo, not seinen. D:

And so... The cycle continues!! Da da dum...
For my thoughts on this sequel, I was just okay with the first Marmalade Boy. I have volumes 2 and 8, so, that's how much (or very little) I invested into the story. It's nowhere near any of my favorite shoujos, but it was somewhat entertaining during its active English run.
I wish Ms. Wataru a good luck. ^^; (It's gonna be 90's again.. Whooooo...)

What about the parents awkwardly having to explain to the kids that it was okay for "Auntie" (in the non-related sense) Meiko to date, elope with, and marry her junior high school teacher, but only because she neglected by her parents? Which totally justifies it... riiiggggghhhhhhttttttt.

Oh man, guys, I totally figured out. If each of the parental unions (Miki'sMom/Yuu'sDad and Yuu'sMom/Miki'sDad) had one child, and these are the two kids who are the focus of this new sequel manga, well.
Those two kids have completely different parent sets and aren't related, even if they both related to Miki *and* Yuu.
So they can date.
NOW IT MAKES SENSE!

No, giapet! They're still half-siblings! They can't date! It's wrong and their kids would be freaks! If they wanted to do that, the mangaka should set this sequel in the Deep South or make the characters some European royal family.
Miki not being "pure"? This is set 13 years after the original manga leaves off. Of course she'd have banged Yuu long since then!
@ Tenchi: The Meiko/Nacchan angle, coupled with the lack of cell phones, has stopped me cold from watching Marmalade Boy ever again. I'd love nothing more than to punch Wataru Yoshizumi for writing that storyline into the series. Why? SHE'S WAY TOO YOUNG FOR HIM GODDAMN IT! WRITING NACCHAN AS A [expletive] CRADLE-ROBBER? REALLY? THAT IS [expletive] SICK!

>D Oh yeah. I forgot. That was another reason why Marmalade Boy is nowhere in my "fav shoujo" list. =.= I wasn't crazy about that relationship either.
I could feel the passion, but....just...no. I made Cardcaptor Sakura and MB the only exceptions of student x teacher relationships I'll ever see in manga. (When I think about it though, perhaps CCS is worse? I mean... A "mature" fourth grader and an adult aged man. Trying NOT to think about it so much...)

They'd be half-siblings to Yuu and Miki but not be blood-related to each other in any way. I mean, it'd still be hella-weird for them to date, but there wouldn't be any genetic problem.

I love that the "will they or won't they" discourse has already started up before the series has even started! He he he. I just can't wait for this! I've always loved Wataru Yoshizumi and Marmalade Boy was one of the first manga I read as a little baby anime fangirl! It's still as charming and weird today as it ever was. It'll be so great to see what happened to the characters after the series' end!
Also, I gotta play devil's advocate for Meiko and Nacchan. When I was reading the series as a teen, I wanted her to dump that old coot and go out with dreamy Miwa, but now that I'm older, I think their story is kind of romantic! (Though I just love Meiko's story arc in general, because it gives a lot of attention to the friendship between the girls-- pretty rare in shoujo manga today!!-- and provides a really good conclusion to the Ginta-and-Miki romance plot which I still think was really well done...)
I just... really like... this manga you guys

I never read/watched CCS so I have no idea.
Of course, I still remember the backlash that happened when Seven Seas got Nymphet a.k.a. Kodomo No Jikan. Good thing they dropped it. The last thing we marks and smarks need on our fandom is a pedo stain. Only in the past 10-15 years did we finally get past the stereotype that all anime is violent tentacle rape porn. We don't need Chris Hansen hosting "To Catch an Otaku" shows or NBC doing a Dateline expose on the otaku community!
