So yeah, Manga sort of spilled the beans since they don't do dubs themselves anymore. Since it's getting a dub, I would assume it means Funimation has the license since Sentai doesn't do a lot of dubs, and Viz wouldn;t pick it up since it's a Kodansha anime.

Looking forward to more news.

Funi makes the most sense of all R1 distribs for Fairy Tail.

Where does it say anything about being dubbed in the US? Do they not have their own dubbing companies in the UK?

They don't do english dubs over there anymore. They normally just wait for a US release and then add that dub onto their release. Additionally, they said in an earlier tweet that "we assume there will be a dub" meaning they weren't doing the dubbing themselves.

You'd think so. Last I heard Manga UK were thinking about contracting to a Scottish dubbing company, given Braveheart's popularity worldwide.

Given that, it is odd they would announce their release in advance of an R1 distributer (since I'm assuming the dub will be done in North America). I think this happened with some other title not too long ago - Durarara!!, maybe?

Since Mania knows about it now, ANN will probably mention it sometime today so whoever's dubbing it may be forced to say something.

This is good news I suppose, I hope they don't mess it up. Fairy Tail is probably the best shounen anime/manga since....well, One Piece.

I'm not a fan, but I think it will do well in the US. It seems like it will have a huge appeal to Naruto/Bleach/One Piece fans.

Since it hasn't been announced to be Funimation yet, my bets are still on VIZ media. Come on, Naruto, Bleach and One Piece all in the same show! How could VIZ resist?

Cool. I hope Funi takes it after all. Funi can do better dubs than viz IMO if they actually try. Smile

While it could be FUNimation, I have an inkling that it's Viz. Just a feeling.

I hope whichever company picks it up hooks up a broadcast deal. This show has enough mainstream appeal to be a hit kids show.

This is pretty much the exact way I feel. I mean, I've never seen the series and don't have much of an interest to since I've lost interest in long-running shounen a while back, but it'd be great to have another one of them on TV, just for the sake it. Might be the next big thing, just like Naruto was a few years back.

The only way I'd watch this is if it was on TV. I'm interested in the show, but there's no way I'll buy ∞ box sets to see it. This is also the same way I feel about One Piece. Before they pulled it off the air, I watched it every single week, but now that it's not on TV, the only way to see it (dubbed at least) is the box sets, which there will be a lot of.
