Well, let's see if this validates all of my claims about how the industry is sorely lacking an event (eve if a trade show and not a 'con' per se) that is organized and managed by a professional full-time staff...

For now, their press release makes it sound like they're fairly ambivalent about how much of it should be a trade show, and how much an open-to-the-public event. Let's see whether they decide to also bring in a live-events program in addition to the DR/exhibit hall. *That* would really make things interesting. (...that, and finding out whether their revenue model is going to be based on delegate sales or sponsorships.) |

I agree with Cornered Angel about the anime/manga industries not having an official trade event like E3 for the video game industry.
Here's an interesting followup article to this news. http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=5400 I wonder how costly exhib hall spaces will be and how much live programming there will be as well. |
