I was reading through the ANN review for Sarai and whoever authored the Manga referred to previous works by the author, one 'Masahrio Shibata'. Looking for his other works I searched for his name in the encylopedia, as well as in the forums, but nothing was returned - although his name on Sarai's page links to an entry entitled 'Masahiro SHIBATA', for what it's worth.
The review mentions Mr. Masahrio as being "popular with several other series in Japan such as “Akai Kiba Series: Blue Sonnet” and “Love Syncloid”", but I am unable to find any information about his published history other than two stories on ANN (Sarai and Sonnet). As for the two website links posted on his author's page, the first one seems to link to a fake page - or at least a page that won't work for me, other than the loading of the entry page - and the second seems to be a site with content from more than one person. (And considering the content at the links, I'd just link to mention that I'm not into hentai, just good stories.) Mad Max-style worlds can be intriguing to delve into, and the reivews of his work that I found - the few of them which seem to exist - only reference three or four series with a common theme of post-apocalism or a dystopian nature. As the reviewers seemed to agree his stories are good ones, I was wondering if anyone could help me out by pointing me in the right direction? I was unable to find even one reference to "Love Syncloid" outside of the ANN review page for Sarai, so does anyone have a link or three to more info on it? I'd like to avoid hentai, please. Thanks in advance. |

Nothing?
He has many more titles than you know... if you search Amazon.jp or Japanese Wikipedia there were more than two dozen series, not including sub-series/spinoffs.
"Kyoukousha Clubhouse Online" was closed down in 2008; I just removed that from his entry. I'm trying to verify the other page but there's something strange: I couldn't "enter" the site as it redirects me back to a "dummy" page which looks identical to the index page. I'll try accessing it later today.
ラブ♥シンクロイド was serialized in Shonen Jets in October 1981 and first published by Hakusensha between 1982 to 1986 for nine volumes, and republished twice in 1993 and 2000 by Scholar and Media Factory, respectively, with five volumes each. The 2000 edition is still available in Japan and, according to its cover, the correct romanization should be "Love Synchroid" (which makes more sense: "synch" + "roid" (android)). GOD I CAN'T BELIEVE TONG LI HAS LICENSED IT. AND SARAI. As far as I know Sarai is the only Shibata title licensed in US. Erratum: fixed a small wording problem. Your initial confusion stems from the fact that "Masahrio" is a typo in the review - it should be Masahiro as ought to be fairly obvious, but I honestly can't tell if you were being sarcastic in your initial paragraph.

That was what I thought too, until I read his second paragraph mentioning the two websites on page #7354. Not to mention the first sentence of the third paragraph came from nowhere. |

Since I'm the one who entered both, I've fixed the ERIKA's Co.So.Ad. link (I had to use Google to find the "real" URL). As for more information on Masahiro Shibata (in English), see The Doujinshi & Manga Lexicon (sic) and PRISMS: The Ultimate Manga Guide. |

Sorry about the typo with his name, I used copy/paste for a few lines and kept his name on the clipboard I'd tho't I was being more efficient. (I't doesn't matter , but I have a blind spot on one of my retinas that can interfere with checking my spelling.)
I'd also assumed that having his last name in CAPS made a difference with the search engine, as there are a couple of posts in the forum here about caps and returns on searching the database.
It honestly didn't occur to me to try an 'r' in place of the 'l' , and it's too bad about the licensing issue. Thanks for the info! |
