I hope I'm not stepping on someone else's toes; I was searching around and I couldn't find this sort of thread anywhere: either for manga or for anime. I was wondering what manga you'd most like to see translated/licensed/released in your market if it was possible. For the sake of discussion, it might be nice to just ignore market research and such I suppose.

I'd honestly like to see the Outlaw Star manga get a US release, and I really liked the anime that went along with it. For that matter, I think its predecessor Future Retro Hero Story might really be a neat one.

How about you guys?

It's been awhile since we had a thread about this. However, my answer really is still the same: the number one thing I'd like to see released would be more of Yuu Watase's titles because there is a fair amount of older stuff that I would love to read, as well as the newer titles too (I'm really hoping Sakura Gari gets picked up at some point).

Beyond that, there really aren't any specific ones that I'd like to see, except maybe for Hataraki Man (I only watched the first few episodes of the anime though so I'm not entirely certain how much I would read of that one). Oh and I'd really like to see Kagen no Tsuki released here too. And just josei titles in general.

Hetalia would have been on the list since I've been meaning to read that one for ages but hurrah, it was finally licensed!

I am sorry if this thread is repetitive then! I don't mean to take up undue space.

Yuu Watase's other works would be really nice I think. I wasn't really familiar with Zombie Hunter, so I had a look. A race car driver who hunts zombies actually sounds pretty unique! I'd like to see some of the character designs someday, to tell the truth.

I would like to reiterate one I've brought up before, though as an anime. I would like to see more of Matsumoto Leiji's works released, especially Space Pirate Captain Harlock.

Definetily The World is Mine, Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou and Nijigahara Holograph, because I so often see them praised here and elsewhere, and would love to have a chance to read them without resorting to scanlations (no offense, I just don't much enjoy reading stuff off a screen).

Also, it'd be great if Viz (or Vertical) decided to reprint Adolf.

Wow, I hadn't ever heard of Adolf until you pointed it out; thanks for the link!

I remember talking about Viz reprints here before; I said I wouldn't be too upset if they took they're older out of print series and made new Viz Big collections out of them.

I want to hold Dengeki Daisy, Hana to Akuma, and the works of Ohmi Tomu in my hands. I'd like to purchase Stray Love Hearts, Bloody Monday(1&2), Otoyomegatari, Bartender, and Cesare by Fuyomi Souryo. Ai Yazawa and Yuu Watase are good, too.

Blood Alone has finally been re-licensed, so I'm looking forward to that although it doesn't seem that the production values will be as good.

There is nothing as good as an ink-on-paper book for sheer reading pleasure. Even though I appreciate the convenience and space-saving features of ebooks, I still want the real thing that can't be taken away after X many times of accessing/reading. That's not *owning*, it's licensing.

Old shoujo. I'm not extremely picky, anything by the Year 24 Group would be great. And Rose of Versailles, of course.

Other titles I want: Historie, Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, Cat Street... uhm, can't think of anything else right now. Oh, it'would be nice if Dark Horse (or another publisher) brought back Naru Taru/Shadow Star.

That and those translations tend to suck. I tried to read the second volume of Bunny Drop online, but it was as if someone pulled the translation out of a bablefish. A rotten one.

OLady replies:
I love Tokyo Crazy Paradise just the way it is. It would probably need minor cosmetic surgery to be publishable today. The character designs, story and plot line are still good, but the car designs are too old to pass muster. They make it feel a little like seeing Flash Gordon in the 25th Century.

Will somebody please tell me how to work this quote thing?!!

Place a [/quote] tag at the end of the quote, and a [quote] tag at the begining. That closes it up.

I hope that helps Smile

Tezuka, Tezuka, Tezuka! That man's library of manga is absolutely [expletive] massive, and all we've got over here is Astro Boy, Black Jack, Phoenix, and some of his one volume stuff. I especially want to read me some Jungle Emperor.

I would also like to see the older Shonen Jump titles like the original Kinnikuman, Fist of the North Star, Captain Tsubasa, and Kochikame.

In addition, more old Shojo and Robot manga would be greatly appreciated. Also, I'd like to check out some Doraemon.

I'd love to see some of Yoshihiro Takahashi's series licensed, particularly Ginga Nagareboshi Gin. Unfortunately, 80's series tend to do pretty bad, and the art style isn't gonna click with everyone. The sequel, Ginga Densetsu Weed was picked up years ago by ComicsOne before the company went out of business...

Other than that, Rookies (I love series about camaraderie and baseball), the side-series in the Saiyuki series, Livingstone (a very neat concept), Rainbow (camaraderie and an interesting, albeit depressing, plot), and Zookeeper (animals!).

Princess Knight by Tezuka, 3x3 Eyes (Completely this time!), anything by Ai Yazawa that hasn't made it here yet, because the NANA dry spell is way too long...(Get better soon, Yazawa-Sensei!)

I second the motion for rereleasing Adolf. I had a long conversation with Ed Chavez about it (on Twitter and in person at MoCCA Fest this past Sunday). He explained to me that Vertical can't release Adolf because Viz still has the rights, same with Pheonix. This only served to get me upset with Viz, as they are content with letting a brilliant Tezuka masterpiece decay in an out-of-print flipped edition. 4 of those volumes sit on my shelf, the first volume missing due to an unaffordable inflated price that only an out-of-print Tezuka volume can fetch...ugh!

I'm hoping that if Cross Game does well, we'll get to see Touch, and I yearn for the day that Netcomix will annouce a license rescue for the adorable manhwa "50 Rules for Teenagers".

Did I mention Translucent, Historie, and *everything* by Kaoru Mori?

I'll come up with more, but that's a pretty good list for now...thanks for providing a place to list our licensing dreams!

I doubt if manga of that kind have a chance to be licensed outside Japan- IMHO it says about problems that are a bit different than those which USA/European collegues of the protagonist would face, so for Western reader it would be just a curiosity.

My "manga dreams- "year 24" of course, but to be realistic I don't see any chance too.
