Agreed. I just don't see the story appealing to a mainstream audience (heck, it didn't appeal to me) because of the incestuous feel that it has. That aside, I don't have much faith in Tokyopop's ability to produce a movie, due in part to their low quality control for their manga (thank you for all of the odd symbols instead of apostrophes and the flies in the printing in Pet Shop of Horrors ). |

It could work, if they get Miike or Shimizu.

Didn't they say they were going to make a live action Princess Ai movie, too? I bet this isn't going to move beyond much more than this annoucement.... Besides, Lament of the Lamb?! I have a feeling that maybe they're going to avoid the incest all together.

Of all the comics they could have possibly adapted into live action movies, why on Earth would they pick a B-grade horror series like Lament of the Lamb? Maybe we'll see a live-action Mail Order Ninja from Tokyopop as well.

tokyopop haven't produced a movie before, have they?
it seems like a huge jump from manga to movies... gtg from manga to anime first! i dont have a hate on for tokyopop like some of yall seem to, so i wont close the door on this just yet... but i agree that it's not very promising. |

yeah with no movie experience at all, it seems unlikely tokyo pop can get this made. If it had been optioned by a real company in the movie industry, fine, but as far as I know Tokyo pop has no connections or pull to get this done.

Be sure to watch for gratuitous product placement of their (mostly) below par OEL mangas.

I'll look forward to seeing the preview for this before watching the live-action Samurai Girl: Real Bout High School starring Melissa Joan Hart that they announced 2 years ago and also will not happen.

Real Bout High School will probably happen when the Battle Royale remake gets off the ground. Of course, by then, I hope they give up on Hart, and get Michelle Trachtenberg for the part.

I loved this series myself believe there is an anime also and quite a few collectables. I don't think however that a live action movie is a good idea, it will most likely fail.

Nobody at Tokyopop seems eager to mention that a live-action version of Hitsuji no Uta already exists.

I don't see why they couldn't just subtitle this instead of making a whole new movie. I like the manga series, but I have no faith whatsoever in Tokyopop to do a project like this, Viz? Maybe. Tokyopop? Not at all |
