I purchased a Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence DVD that said "V4" on the top and the DVD still did not include proper subtitles. I'm sure my copy isn't the only one either. Has anyone else purchased 2nd pressing DVD of GITS 2 that was still glitched?

It really best to just send it back to dreamworks... I actually bought the movie twice and it got NOWHERE...
but to be honest, there is no real difference in the subs between both movies... just a few corrections here and there, but that's it...
it's really the same subs when it comes down to it...
anyway, my corrected version skips a frame now, and for some reason I feel like the video quality has dropped somehow...
although this could be because I have a different DVD player and I'm just paranoid *as usual*

^Lots of discs now have multiple layers and when some players change from one layer to another they skip like that. So if your disc isn't dirty or scratched (cleaning it is a good idea too) then that's more than likely what it is.
As for GITS 2, I haven't bought it yet due to the unreliability and general crappiness of the release. What terrible treatment for such a good film. Here's hoping for a Special Edition.

so this one has multiple layers?
anyway, I buy the original releases whether they are crappy or not
it's just the right thing to do if you really like the thing *well, that's how I feel*
you just voice your opinion of the DVD quality after purchase and then hopefully they will listen to reason...
either way, I really don't want to rob myself of the experience
yes, I am a tool

I don't usually buy bare-bones copies like this one I prefer to get a little more quality and extras for my money. Not taking full advantage of the format just seems like a crime especially since the film is so good. It all comes down to whether or not you care about extras and such though. If the film is all you want then the DVD will be perfect to you. The ultimate goal of this though is marketing, later on down the road they'll release a Special or Limited edition and try to make you buy the film twice.

well, the good thing about being in the states though is that you can at least SELL the DVD if they do...
It's not much, but then at least you get some of your money back
