Have the canadians colectively blown an head casket? This is one of the most successful and well-known (recent) anime series right now. It's even got a bunch of awards by fan-base animereactor/anidb. Check it right here: http://anidb2.ath.cx/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=979. /me wonders what the Teletoon admins were thinking. Not that i live in Canada, but still... |

I've always had the impression that Teletoon broadcasted shows that weren't meant to be progressive. I'm not surprised that they passed.

To think that Teletoon used to air Ninja Scroll uncut at 11:30pm.
I know this is complete and utter crap, since Teletoon aired The Animatrix just a few weeks ago which, in my honest opinion, fits the station's "image" far less than FMA does. In fact, I think FMA fits their motif far better than a lot of the shows they are airing right now. But I'm just happy that someone from the station is finally being upfront and honest about this and making it clear that Teletoon has no interest in anime, which is still incredibly dissapointing since YTV will never (and probably should never, since they appeal to a different demographic) air shows like Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, or Samurai Champloo. However, FMA isn't out of the question for YTV, although there might be some problems. The violence and suggestive situations that they've shown unedited in Gundam SEED (notably the most recent episodes) pretty much proves that content isn't going to be an issue. However, there seems to be a strong possibility that YTV will be looking into Naruto this fall. If that is the case, I think there's a very real threat that it will overshadow every other potential property. It's also been long theorized that there's some kind of hostility between YTV and FUNi, which drove the station to the Ocean dub of Dragonball Z. Personally, I still think this is a load of bunk, but I have to admit that the fact that the Bardock Special was mysteriously yanked from YTV's New Year's Eve schedule at the last minute, it being the only FUNi dub that was set to air, leaves me less than reassured. Not to mention that FUNimation isn't exactly aggressive in promoting their products outside of the United States in any way. Also, one thing I've been adamant about is the possibility of YTV airing Fruits Basket (you can read why I think this is an excellent idea here). But if there really is a problem with FUNi not pushing their stuff hard enough up here, we can scratch out that possiblity. Oh speaking of which: Chris, is there any word on what's happening with the article I submitted for PA? I haven't received a reply since I submitted it about a month ago. |

It's a shame Cartoon Network can't have a Canadian division for you Canadians, but I bet YTV is blocking that move by being a powerhouse channel. I'm glad that I have access to Toonami and Adult Swim down here...

Honestly, I think YTV is better than CN in a lot of ways (ie: they show the original OPs and EDs, air SEED pretty much uncut, and actually target their programming to the right audience at a good timeslot), they just need more shows. The only part of CN that I would like is Adult Swim, but it's Teletoon's responsibility to bring us that programming. And they've been doing a terrible job in regards to both action AND comedy shows.
I'm still astounded that they're airing The Venture Brothers. |

"...doesn't inerest the majority of our viewers..."? That's one of the most ridiculus things I've heard this year, and, I really don't think the majority of Canada is fanatically religious either. I'm really interested to see if there will be any more news posts on this.

Yes, because all we Canadians want are endless DBZ/DB shows and various Gundam series.
Inuyasha is doing really well for YTV though, but I think most people gave up on Witch Hunter Robin - too heavy. |

I think most in the US gave up on WHR pretty quickly as well. Did we even air the ending? I dunno and everyone I've asked didn't know or care. |

It's these damn execs thinking they're right about everything.
"Oh, this new Japanese cartoon called Full Metal Alchemist is not good. It's boring because there's no explosions and there's too much character development. And don't forget the crosses, Christians might get offended. Let's pass on this crap and put on Rave Master. Now THERE'S an awesome show." Dumbasses. I hope they all burn at the stake AND get crucified. Glad I live in America, where ALMOST everything is better. |

Umm, nobody's airing Rave Master in Canada. Thankfully. Somebody at Teletoon just doesn't like anime.
Actually, WHR was quite popular up here. After the show's debut, the DVD boxset was in the top 20 best sellers list on Amazon.ca for a time. |
