I've just noticed that at the high school I teach at, there are a few selections of manga titles. I have never seen manga, much less any form of comic book, at a book fair before. I think the people at scholastic are beginning to understand just how many kids read these kinds of books more than the long novelas everyone comes to love.
BTW: The book fair at my school is having a buy one get 1 free sale. It's really helpful because I bought a copy of Bleach vol.1 for 7.95 and got a free Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix (Hardcover).

I wish we had bookfairs here, but sadly we don't. I bet they would probably have DBZ or Ranma 1/2 there. Not that there's anything wrong with it. ^^;
Anyway, all I can say is -- LUCKY!

I remember visiting an elementry school that was selling Love Hina and Inu Yasha, and a bunch of other age inappropriate stuff a while back... If they want angry parents...that's the way to go...

When I was in highschool, I remember being surprised when I saw how to draw manga books at the book fair. seems they've upgraded.

GREAT! It's only been a half a day at the book fair and all the manga are gone already! What's up with this? And it's the only gap in the whole fair. My guess would be if they had manga bookfairs, the school would be a rich goldmine.

My high school never even had a book fair (our library was shabby as it was). Now that I think about it, neither did my middle nor second elementary school. Great way to promote learning BPS
But including manga (or comicbooks) would certainly help sales for schools. Most of the stuff that kids would be interested probobly wouldn't be particuarly usefull for educational purposes, but they'd sell and get kids to read, and that's all the really matters.
