The "person" Tokyo Symphonic ORCHESTRA (#21169) performed music in a number of animes, with "ORCHESTRA" being the "family name" and "Tokyo Symphonic" being the given name.
Its kanij name (Wikipedia page) would be 東京 (Tokyo) 交響 (Reverberation) 楽団 (Orchestra) which doesn't follow the Japanese naming order ("orchestra" being the last part, not the first one). Is there any legal way of setting a kanji name to make this "person" kanji-contributable? I tried setting all six kanji in either of the name fields but didn't manage to get the contribution form to get a match for this string. Setting only parts of the string in both fields would be semantically wrong so I didn't do this. Or should this have been a company to begin with? I remember other musical groups being persons in ANN but most of them have a simple, non-kanji name... |

An orchestra should not be listed as a person.
Also, 交響 should be translated as "symphonic" here, not "reverberation." |

To my knowledge we still list music groups/bands as "people", but I assume then that Orchestras are to be entered as companies like these?
Poland Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra (not sure why "Poland" is in the name here though) Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra NHK Symphony Orchestra Shinsei Japan Philharmonic Orchestra Eminence Symphony Orchestra Israel Philharmonic Orchestra Inukami Orchestra (only credit is for Inukami!) We do have some more currently entered as "people" (all with Orchestra incorrectly in the "family name" field it seems): Moscow International ORCHESTRA Rainstick ORCHESTRA (actually a band) Electric Light ORCHESTRA (another band) |

The individualities of each member in orchestras are much less significant to those of small pop bands; most audiences wouldn't notice if an instrument player has been replaced (unless it's the first violinist or a soloist). Thus an orchestra is much more like a company rather than an individual. |
