新号靖 is an animator (source). しんごーやすし was the animation character designer for the Strike Witches OVA (source). I'm honestly not sure if they are just the same person who can't make up their mind what to call themselves but according to this, both names are credited with sakkan on FF:U ("新号靖" on early episode and "しんごーやすし" on later ones) - I can't check directly as I never completed the series, but FF:U was before Kiddy Grade where's he's back to being 新号靖 again. I'm going to check one of his more recent credits; Shangri-la since I can pull that up on Crunchy easily enough.. and there he is as "新号靖". He also illustrated this Geass article for Newtype. Looking at a single source site with a large database, D2_Station has more entries for 新号靖 than it has for しんごーやすし and three titles with both. One thing is though, while they are both credited with animation roles up to sakkan, "しんごーやすし" doesn't seem to have any of the "lower" ranked positions like key animation which make almost all of "新号靖"'s credits and is the only one of the two to have character design and direction credits so it may be that at some point he decided to use the hiragana name when he is supervising and the kanji name for the drudge stuff or they are two people after all. If we're keeping all the credits together I think we should either have both names listed (put the kanji in as a birth name?) or revert to the most common name. |

It's not uncommon for Japanese artists to change their pen name(s) just between kanji and kana. I'm off for work now; will look into it later.

Thanks for this thread, finding it via the Google search helped me assign another 新号 靖 credit.
