This contest actually wasn't supposed to be visible yet, I'll be posting it later this week.

But to address the question, "Live Area" is the area on a print-page where it is safe to place content. The "Bleed" is the area around it that goes into the binding on one side and gets cut on the other 4 sides. The bleed is essentially a buffer to make sure that printing and binding variances don't mess up your page.
