For some strange reason, Animax Asia started showing Shakugan no Shana Second (English dubbed, though the promos use subtitled clips), skipping the first series. Wonder if/when the second series will be out on R1 DVD.

Even for those of us without any. I want a full season! ;.; Then again, it's a -little- hard to be excited at all when there's not even any word of being able to own season two in DVD form. u_u

This saddens me...but I'm still happy to have more Shana nonetheless.

This sucks, I was so damn pumped for a new Shana season.
At least I hope the OVAs will continue with the story, instead of being fanservice or some random thing.

Well, hopefully this will mean that there won't be as much filler. That front half killed the second series for me.

Doesn't seem like they will be able to cover much ground in only a few episode ova series. Kind of a bummer. Here is a nice thought though, what if the ova is meant as a segue to transition more smoothly into a third season. Any takers?

If Shana sold well, there a a better chance of the second seasoning being licensed. But if it didn't, it most likely won't be completed, much like the Hare and Guu series.
It's now a wait and see process for the fans of the series.

The situtaion with a R1 license is actually more complicated than that.
Geneon Japan has recently completed a merger with Universal.
Now since that process began, no Geneon series have been licensed at all.
The word on the street so to say is that Universal will now hold those licenses, meaning R1 companies won't be able to license any of those works whatsoever.
Apparently Universal are considering getting in the anime scene.
This is why we have yet to see Hellsing Ultimate 5, even though that series was actually among the top 3 sellers in the R1 market.
As for the actual news, gutted.
I wanted a full season where we can actually cover some ground.
I mean it'd take a few eps of filler just to get back on track with the canon, so how are they going to handle this with the OVA's?
Just neglect season 2 completely or just create plotless fanservice OVA's?
Ah well, perhaps if these sell well then they may consider a proper TV season.
