There's a typo: It should read "Funimation Entertainment", not "[...] Eentertainment".
Just wanted to point that out, I don't really care about the show. |

This is great news, I already have "Noir" and "madlax" so I've been waiting for the third volume of Bee train's girls with guns series.

I find it interesting that they picked this one up and not ADV considering ADV previously acquired both Noir and then Madlax. One would think that they'd go for this one as well from Bee Train since they go get Noir and Madlax. Oh well. Regardless I'm just glad to see it licensed and picked up by someone finally.

ADV seem to be waiting for the sales from Clannad and Princess Resurrection, not to mention all those re releases they seem to be quietly doing to come in before they make another acquisition.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I didn't have a clue this show existed last month then 2 weeks ago I was clicking around in the encyclopedia and bumped into this. Some googling and site views later this got stuck on my want list. Funimation picks up some very interesting series and seem to be catering to the types I like most. They are worthy of my money. |

ADV appears to be in a world of hurt right now. They lost most of their recent licenses about a year ago and haven't licensed much since then. Pretty much anything non-anime that they've been doing - like NewType USA and its successor - has stopped. They do have a couple of shows that they recently licensed which are coming out within the next few months, but they're going to be subtitles only. I'm not sure that ADV is even capable of doing dubs in their current state and all the evidence seems to say that they're really hurting for money. They seem to be primarily re-releasing older titles in the hopes of making enough money to survive. The fact that they apparently use Best Buy as one of the main outlets for their DVDs combined with the fact that Best Buy is cutting back on how much anime it's going to be stocking isn't going to help either. While I think that it would have made perfect sense for ADV to license El Cazador were they in a healthy state, I question that they have the funds to do so at this point. And even if they did, the fact that they aren't doing dubs for their new releases at the moment makes me question whether they even have the facilities to do dubs at this point (though it could be purely a question of not having the funds on hand to pay for dubbing). If ADV had gotten the series, it's questionable that we would have gotten a dub. And while I definitely want ADV to survive and recover to the point that it could license shows and dub them like they used to, I'd much prefer to have Funimation pick up the series when they're actually going to dub it. |

Maybe ADV should go back to the good old days when they were releasing Softcel titles to fund their anime productions.
