For those of you who are not aware, Sonada finished up Exaxxion earlier this year (I heard the ending is a great suprise) and started up the sequel to Gunsmith Cats, entitled Gunsmith Cats BURST.
I guess you could say that I'm pretty pumped (I actually like Exaxxion more, but I'm glad he didn't drag it on past seven volumes). From those of you who have never read it, GSC is a blast to read; a pure adrenaline rush. It isn't the most serious manga, it doesn't have the deepest or most interesting story, but its so well constructed that I really could care less. Sonada is often called a modern master of manga with good reason: he can really tell a story like few people can. Great action, cool characters, fun campyness, and an impressine attention to detail when it comes to technical aspects (Sonada is a psycotic gun freak; he even teaches you how to customize firearms from time to time). Towards the end of GSC nine volume run, the stories did decrease in quality though. Still very fun reads, but not as good compared to the beginning and middle of the manga (I liked Mister V alot though). I'm glad that Sonada took a long break. Not only did the amazing Exaxxion come from it, but now he will be fresh and hopefully have many new ideas for stories. So I eagerly await the future exploits of Rally, Minnie May, Bean and the rest of the lunatics of GSC. Darkhorse has yet to licence it, but I'm sure they will as soon as some TPBs are released, as it was a big hit for them. And thoughts (please tell me there are still some GSC fans or people who are interested in it)?[/u] |

Heard rumours of the GSC sequal a quite some time ago. I actually forgot it was coming until you brought it up again, thanks for that
![]() Characters were actually pretty good as they were pretty easy to relate to and the manga featured one of the most memorable good/bad guy, Bean. In my oppinion GSC is of the best character driven action mangas on the market. Another thing I like in Kenichi Sonoda's works is his relatively simple yet highly sharp and detailed drawing style. If you know something about guns and cars, you'll have no problems recognizing the real life counterparts in the manga. Also his style of drawing stays pretty much the same and doesn't evolve as much during the run of the serie as with some other manga artists. Just have to wait and see if he still has the same touch in the coming Gunsmith Cats BURST as he did in the original. |

I'd love for Dark Horse to license the new Gunsmith Cats series, as Sonoda is the 'effin man, but first I'd like them to get back on top of releasing Cannon God Exxaxion. My friend is collecting that one (hence, I'm borrowing it from him) and Vol 2 is as far as he's found.
And as far as Dark Horse has released, as far as we know. |

Jeez I've been out of the comic loop for a while now, and I missed the news of this next GSC series. Cheers Kage.
GSC was one of the best and first series I have collected, but now because of the nature of storing comics in boxes is becoming a storage nightmare, I'm considering just opting for GNs when this series come out. This might change though. Find it hard to pass by Sonoda's work, when is it due out, is there a date? |

Actually, volume 3 came out early this summer http://darkhorse.com/profile/profile.php?sku=12-985. That's weird though, that the stores don't have it. I'm your friend could get a special order. The matterial for volume 4 is being released in SMB! right now, and I would say it should be out this spring.
I've heard rumors that if DH might re-release all 9 of the original GSC graphic novels unflopped and cheaper alongside the new BURST, similar to what Viz is doing for Altia. While nothing official, they will be doing this with Oh My Goddess!, so I think there is a good chance of it happening. |

This is some of the best news I've heard for quite some time...
I'm a huge GSC fan, and have been loving Exaxxion as well. This bodes well for fans of Sonoda's works... |

I've heard from someone at Darkhorse that it is very likely that BURST will be picked up in the near future, possibly for a Super Manga Blast! serialization. It would be a perfect series for the slower paced SMP! since Sonada releases his manga pretty slow in the first place, so if it does happen our trades will be pretty much at the same pace as the Japanese ones (unless he starts working faster, which I doubt).
