I have a quick question related to the Divergence Eve boxset releases.

Okay, I checked Amazon and they have 2 boxsets (well 3 if you count Misaki Chronicles) for this series.

1 Divergence Eve complete collection this is listed as being 3 discs and 13 episodes. HOWEVER, the new boxset Divergence Eve The Seraphim Collection is listed as 6 discs and 26 episodes. WTH?

My assumption is that the newest release is both Divergence Eve and Misaki Chronicles. Is this right or was a typo made or did they magically add 13 more episodes?

It seems that your theory could be correct. Divergence Eve is only 13 episodes. So I imagine that there is more to the other box set then just that. Of course I don;t own either of them so I can't be for sure.

I have the Saraphim Collection, and I can tell that yes, it's both seasons in one set. The first 3 discs are Divergence Eve and the remaining 3 are Divergence Eve: Misaki Chronicles.

I thought this might be the case but wanted to double check.

Anyway this is great news.

Now I just have to decide if I which I should get first. THIS series or Ergo Proxy. LOL thanks bro!

Quality-wise, I'd go with Ergo Proxy it's a much better series overall in all aspects. Divergence Eve and it's sequel tend to catch a lot of flak for their terrible CG graphics and poor integration of 2 and 3D animation. Also when I say terrible I mean they're REALLY terrible the monsters are so fakey and awkward looking they turn the horror elements of the series into comedy. Laughing But aside from that detraction it has good characters, and a decent story so it is worth watching if you can get past it. It also has some of the most cute and sexy opening and ending sequences I've seen...they totally don't fit the show but they're still nice.

Oh really? Cool thanks bro.

I was leaning towards Divergence Eve, because of the whole TWO season in one package, but duh, Ergo Proxy is pretty much the same length anyway.

Well that makes it easier. I'll get Ergo Proxy first, with my Christmas money, and next month when I save up more I'll get this.

Seriously thanks for the info and tips man! Smile

No problem, I had to do the same thing recently. My post-Xmas cash and gift cards got me the two Red Garden sets and season 1 of Death Note.

haha funny you mention Red Garden because I actually saw both sets in my local HMV earlier today, I was considering getting them, but I wanted to get Ergo Proxy, or Devergence Eve more. (There are a few other titles I'd like to get as well, although luckily I'm finally catching up and not feeling overwhelmed by ALL the titles I want to get.)

Anyway, thanks again for the advice tho.

Yeah, I just got Ergo Proxy the other day. Definitely worth the money. it was already one of my favorite series so it was a no brainer on which one I should get. The box set is done pretty well in my opinion. If you got the money, Ergo Proxy box set would be my suggestion.

Ergo Proxy is a tremendously better series at the start, and unquestionably has far better technical merits, while Divergence Eve is notorious for having an awful first episode. EP gradually deteriorates under the weight of its own pretentiousness, however, whereas DE's writing gradually gets stronger over the course of the first series, plateaus around the end, and then is somewhat erratic over the course of its second series.

For all its obsession with its female characters' breast sizes, DE turns out to be a surprisingly effective sci fi horror series. EP I ultimately found less entertaining even though it's better-made.

Yeah thanks, I just completed my order on Amazon for Ergo Proxy.

As for the other poster, I'm sure I'll be happy with both series (because I plan to get both) Also I'm pretty easy to please, I tend to like a wide variety of anime, movies, and games. Smile
