Tomoko RYUNO apparently has her surname in all-caps, according to the result of an ANN person search for "ryuno".

Fukashi AZUMA apparently has her surname in all-caps, according to the result of an ANN person search for "fukashi".

(One SQL query might be able to select all persons with all-caps surnames... wouldn't this be faster than writing one report for each of them? I guess the "create person" routine already produces a warning/checkbox for cases like this one these days, so purging the data base from ancient relics would probably not become an ever repeating process.)

Banzai! While many problems and problem classes in the Encyclopedia remain unresolved, it's good to see that progress is being made on some fronts. Very Happy

This SQL statement could be made permanently available as a report script (generating a simple list of links to person entries) so that an encyclopedist could check for errors of this particular type every couple of months. (Giving a warning in the contribution form might not be enough to absolutely prevent such errors to occur - and just repairing all unusual capitalizations might even cause unwanted such as "normalizing" an name such as Yoshitoshi ABe who wants to be capitalized this way.)

Another automatic check of this type could be to list all persons with more than three kanji in their surname resp. given name. Other scripts could list database entries with a particular shortcoming (such as anime without vintage year) that a contributor specialist could then systematically deal with - the target group need not be encyclopedists alone. (In an earlier posting I already dreamed of a whitelist of high-quality kanji sources at ANN and a report listing all persons without kanji name but with at least one source with an URL prefix match with an entry from this whitelist, i. e. candidates that I could easily contribute the kanji name to...)

Scripts of this type could form a kind of "toolbox" for checking the ANN database integrity.
(anisearch has such a toolbox (Google-translated to English).)

What about uppercase given names?
(Example: AYA KIKUCHI)
