I have been reading the Light Novels and its been an interesting experience. The anime`s atmosphere matches the novels quite well so they have the same vibe. The author is quite good with his prose and creating personalities and gives everything this kind of smooth sailing senin vibe. Like a slice of life high school show but as an adventurer.
It does have some faults though. Like many novels coming from Naro it has a bad habit of having its character over think every single last detail and possibility related to their current encounter, so a moment in the anime can be 2-4 pages of thinking some times. So he could use a stronger editors hand. And despite constantly reinforcing the sensible and practical needs for a adventurer Rentt and Lorraine remain doing most events by saying, this should normally be really dangerous but we are so good at it that its fine. But when I compare the book to the more average game like / isekai world stories, it remains well written and engaging story but also not a A class experience. CAN be frustrating when it takes an entire book to tell a 1 chapter story though. |
