He lost his acting ability past Born on the Fourth of July. Now he's just eye candy, and contributes nothing to any of his films except that. He doesn't seem to draw out characters anymore, and his recent acting looks and feels almost similar, as if he's not getting into the role or character

Lie all lies. Cruise was excellent in Magnolia.

Rumour has it Colin Farrell, Jean Reno and Tadanobu Asano have been cast for Lupin, Jigen, and Goemon respectively. Anyway, Spielberg's busy making a quick buck on the live-action Transformers.

I hope it's only a rumor, I was thinking David Carridean would make a good Goemon(if they make him look a little younger), he did get sword experience in "Kill Bill".

I think that Catherine Bell would make a perfect Fujiko.

I was thinking maybe Will Ferell as Zenigata.

I also like the options already mentioned of Jim Carey(as Lupin), and Richard Dean Anderson(as Jigen).

Of course Rowan Atkinson might make a good Zenigata. Razz
I don't think Colin Farrell is a bad actor, he's just not one of best.
Thanks for reading.

I thought we all already decided that it has to be Bruce Campbell to play Lupin. As for everyone else...I don't know.

Did you really think that? I think Campbell is a fine actor but he's too old to play Lupin (and he doesn't look like Lupin either). I think that a much younger Alain Delon would've made a great Lupin.

Whoever casted him in Magnolia needs to be shot with a nailgun.

I would hope not. He's painfully unfunny, IMO, and he'd completely destroy the character.

I'd actually agree more with this. Though there's also the problem of Zenigata (as well as Fujiko & Goemon) being Japanese.

Small clipping from an article about Lupin movie.

"Gerald Molen, the man behind many of Steven Speilberg's biggest hits, is heading up the live-action adaptation of Japan's flagship "Lupin III" manga franchise"

http://www.ravallinews.com/articles/2004/08/10/news/news04.txt
(bottom of article)

Guess Speilberg is involved in the movie.

How about Jay Leno as Jigen?
He's the only one I can think of with a chin that big.

And Clooney's not bad. I rather liked him in Ocean's 11. I think he'd be a good lupin - kind of funny, charming and smooth.
