The fact that Nina survived the same accident that is supposed to have killed Alisha makes me more certain that the real Alisha isn’t dead.

That might be a step from my headvoice's "Toast," being at least a mammal.
At least Neena seems to finally be warming up to Nina. She even called Sett "baka"!

Whatever feelings Nina might have for Sett, who wouldn't want all the effort she put in to go to waste?
Nina's reaction to Yor and his male Harem always cracks me up. And said male Harem going "he's not a bad boy! He wasn't really going to cut your leg off!"
I can't believe Nina and Sett are actually being cute together. Nina can't help but empathize with and feel for Sett, for what he went through, and want to be there for him...even when her heart is still with Azure and she knows she's lying to him about her identity. I'm here for this kind of relationship drama!
Hikami giving kind of sus vibes. I mean, her loyalty is obviously to Fortna and the former king, but if she doesn't really care about Nina, what would she do to her if she feels that Nina is jeopardizing Fortna?
One of my favorite moments...just as Nina and Sett are connecting, of course Azure shows up!

Nina suffers from whatever Baby 5 from One Piece suffers from, in that being needed is really important to her. Obviously less one dimensional than Baby 5 but still.

I've been reading this manga for years now, and Sett's introduction and character growth (as the spurring force for most other character growth as well!) turned it from a mid (but pretty!) shoujo read to an actually powerful series. I'm so excited to see such a complex and interesting character in the genre animated!
Sett Sett Sett!

Think Nina's push and pull between Sett and Azure would be a little more compelling had the first few episodes of this adaptation not been terrible, feeling like they were in a desperate rush to get the Fortna part of the story over with. As is the show has given me all the reason in the world to care about how Nina is gradually changing Sett, while Azure is a plank of wood who we barely had any time with in comparison.

I guess I've never understood this story to begin with. Usually marrying off your princess to another country is a move to avoid being invaded, not the excuse for an invasion. Clearly Galgada needs no excuse, so what was in it for them to make Nina a queen at all? Was there a shortage of local princesses or eligible nobles for the prince boys to marry?
At any rate I'm getting really tired of Nina's constant whining, both in her head and out loud. I like when she's all determined and stuff, like when she's sassing the king, but as this goes on there's less of that and more of the former.

Well the ending of the episode is a stupid move but understandable move. Who knew Nina hail marry attempt at getting Sett to not invade Fionna was going to work, I sure didn't. It is like getting the bigger guy to no beat up the little guy, than the little guy not knowing what is going on suckers punches the bigger guy because he thinks that is his only chance.
It is not like in Fairy Tail final arc just as they were working on getting some of the bad guys to negotiate that stupid Mest pulls a stunt on trying to kill August. And this again is similar action here, but I at least understand where they are coming from. Mest is an idiot.

I’m most curious on how they’re going to get to Sol. He was teased in the ending but there’s only one episode left…
I don’t even know if I want a season 2. Anime doesn’t do the manga justice but there’s also stuff I want to see animated

Looks like the idea was to have Fortna try to marry off Nina/Alisha to Sett, have Sett reject Nina as unsatisfactory, and then use that as an excuse to invade Fortna. That plan got nixed when Sett developed a liking for Nina.

Then why did the king decide to change inheritance to whomever could win over Fortna's princess (did that not happen because Sett was taking too long to win her over? (timeline hazy in brain))? And then rush to marry her to the winner because Fortna was gearing up their defenses? Like the marriage would be the starting gun for the invasion?

That's ... a really good question. From the Doylist perspective, I think it's because the author wanted to throw in a bit of a reverse harem (or maybe her editor did). From the Watsonian perspective, I think it's because the king is a dick who likes jerking people around.

The plot is definitely inspired by an Otome game and gives insight into the appeal of such to women, otherwise the narrative makes little sense. I'd say notrogersmith nailed the only scenario that makes some sense though...

And what might that appeal be? Cause I'm not feeling it, especially the more this goes on. After ep 12 it's all making even less sense than ever, whatever Hikami's deal is not even being half of what a hot mess this has become. Right now, bird and cub are the only redeeming features, and they didn't get to go into exile with her, so we won't be seeing much of them now (I thought this was 12 eps, but it doesn't look like it can wrap or come to other than a screechng halt even with 13, so how much more is there?).
Anyone looking for a reverse harem game has so many better choices than this is all I'm saying.
