Wow, this show started of weak and got weaker (especially when Rick was acting like a coward), then came the tournament arc and it has been only getting better and better each following week. Episode 10 was another big step up and I did not expect to see an episode that good for a show like this. I genuinely came away with it feeling like one of the best episodes of this season. The fight was sitting on the edge of your seat exciting and Urwolf's arc came full circle. It also looked and sounded pretty darn good.

I didn't realize Wolfie was suffering from One Punch Man syndrome (Life is so boring and pointless...no one is a challenge, etc) to the extent that he was. I like that the anime didn't sacrifice Broughston's aura of unfathomable might since it's an integral part of the anime thus far, but the episode didn't humiliate anyone either.

It is ironic, Rick being a coward in episode 3 or so was something I very much disliked. Rick being scared to face Broughston in the finale did not annoy me at all though because it made sense given his experiences and because it was moment of growth for him. It also made for some pretty strong moments of Broughston appearing emotional because he indeed considers facing someone on equal footing a cherished dream that is now coming true.
The fighting once again looked good and they use fitting music when needed. That musical bit from Snape was a surprise.

It did feel a bit like he was backsliding to me. I didn't mind Rick not wanting to fight, or avoiding people, but the cringy way he was humiliating himself instead of just walking away or admitting that he was scared without screaming and whining was a bit of a flashback. I guess I should just disregard the way the anime seems to be doing it for laughs and treat it like legit PTSD breakdown.
But I like that his party had Rick's back throughout and understood where the trauma was coming from even while everyone else was judging him. And the arena fights have been fun throughout.

While the three episode rule is a good way to not get overburdened with bad/okay shows it is not a perfect method since there are exceptions. Ossan really is one of those. The show started off weak with another one of those ''I am OP but think I am weak'' stories and during the guild test Rick was acting like a sniveling coward which was not fun to watch at all.
After the guild test we had Rick realising he is not weak and that stuck with him thankfully. Even more surprising is that every element of the show became better each following week. We got an interesting enough story, characters to actually care about (including the redemption of Angelica), exciting fights and a significant bump in animation and music.
I do not see it happening sadly enough but I would love a second season.

Well, maybe it's more of a three episode guideline than a rule
Gotta agree, this show did one of the biggest turnarounds I've seen. Not that it was one of my favorite shows of this or any season, but I legit enjoyed the second half more than I ever thought I would.

Its gonna have infinite spiral problems now, since it will have to top the fighting of the worlds best fighters for future story lines.

When it comes to fist fighting maybe, but I can see each arc putting one of the other guild members in the spotlight. An arc all about insane magic or maybe gadgets/guns could be interesting.

Somehow I imagine her arc to involve assassins.

If it weren't for The Fable and Oshi no Ko, Ossan could have taken the top spot for me this season. Legitimately looked forward to it every week, except for the terrible OP track. The music for the fight in the finale redeemed the series musically for me, though.
