Well, what do you think he should've asked then? Personally, I would like to read interviews with questions that get to the heart of the matter, instead of pussyfooting the edges and getting lackluster answers. |

I'd probably expect something closer to "Cowboy Bebop unedited." Safer bet. |

They got away with showing FLCL. They should edit it the same way they did with FLCL.

All of the recent posts that I have seen have all turned out depressing. So in an effort to liven things up. here is a joke.
Q: What's the difference between a blonde and a solar powered calculator? A: The blonde works in the dark! lol x 2 Q: What does a 'screen door' and a blonde have in common? A: The more you bang it the looser it gets. anyways moving on..
Please don't read the following because you will only waste your time. Lol hahahhah.. your not the first one to notice Vekou. And yes your exactly right man. The FUNi's rep has been dodging questions, and its getting annoying. Its basically the fans fault for asking those stupid questions. Someone more profession like ANN's news team should compile like 5 to 6 solid questions and post them on the AS forums tosee if they get answered. I've been tracking them for a week now but with all the stupid questions my patience is running thin. I try filtering most of the stupid questions on SzR. Anyways there was some minor news information released all through out the question/answer discussions. Some of you might not consider this news but its new to my ears. First here is some FMA news. – (The Adult Swim debut is currently scheduled for November 6, 2004.) If you didn't know there are four openings in the Fullmetal Alchemist series. Funimation has decided, (with input from multiple parties), that the L'Arc~en~Ciel intro will be used for the Adult Swim broadcast. The additional openings will be available on the DVD releases with their corresponding episodes. Fullmetal Alchemist is going to get lesser edits than other shows on AS due to the show having a PG rating which has a wider ratings allowence and allows more content suited to older audiences. Here is one of the quote from the FUNI rep. :: “Q: will Fullmetal Alchemist air slightly edited or unedited on Adult Swim? :: A: [FUNi’s Rep:]-- How about slightly unedited? When working with broadcast, you work within the established rating parameters of the different channels and networks. Adult Swim offers greater leeway and allows for less editing, but there is still some editing.” :: All shows with Y7 rating get edited to suit those ratings. It depends on the show TVY7 will typically have many more edits than TV14. Usually only excessively gory scenes and nudity get edited out, which you wouldn't get anyway on most TV in the United States. Plus Fullmetal Alchemist is airing on Adult Swim, and they definatly have a wider ratings to allow more content suited to older audiences. But we'll just have to wait and see. Case Closed news: The Case Closed DVDs will be released to accommodate story arcs. And from the sounds of it fans are going to get only 3 eps per disk, sometimes 4 eps, it depends. FUNimation will be releasing Case Closed DVDs every 6 - 8 weeks. The reason they have 3 episodes per DVD is because most anime titles that have four per DVD at a price point of $29.98 ($7.50/episode). Case Closed with three episodes at $19.98 is $6.66/episode and it allows FUNimation to offer a very attractive $19.98 price tag. Right now FUNi is working with Adult Swim (AS) to get all the 350+ TV episodes on air. Also they are definitely bringing the Case Closed movies to the U.S. market, starting with "The Time Bombed Skyscraper" and "The Fourteenth Target." No specific dates yet, and the production schedule is still being finalized. But right now they are still working on the episodes. Once they are in sync with the episodes, they will work the movies into the production schedule. ^__^; The reason name change in Case Closed was due to legal reasons, and FUNi’s discussed the title name with their Japanese business partners, and they concluded that "Case Closed" was the title for the U.S. market. Plus, the Name changes were chosen for the U.S. mass market and for Americans to understand. The original version (names, kanji and everything) is available on DVD. Remember guys you just have to get used to this idea. And don’t be surprised it anime companies change title names and character names. When Americans dub anime into English and change titles and character names, they are doing so as an attempt to remove the "Japanese-ness" of anime and make it more Americanized, to suit the American viewers better. Here’s another quote of the page :: “Q: why did you change the names in Case Closed, besides for legal reasons? A: [FUNi’s Rep:]-- The legal reason was really the 800 lb. gorilla sitting in the middle of the room. Working closely with our Japanese partners, the names we have in the series today are the ones that were chosen for the U.S. release.” :: Also, the Case Closed 2nd opening and ending will show up on Adult Swim broadcast and DVDs when its time for it to start. So far CC and FMA look like the hot topics for now. just wait till Comic Con is over, I'm sure FUNimation will release some news by then. Btw they are giving away free poster of Fruits Basket, Kiddy Grade, Tenchi Muyo! GXP and Fullmetal Alchemist at Comic Con. There was also some minor titbits released on TV ratings concerning Blue Gender, YYH and Case Closed too but from the looks of the previous post you guys don't care about that. There were a few tit-bits of news all through the talk back. So please don't say that there was no news released. Ofcourse there isn't any soild news but then again its the fandoms fault for asking stupid question. If you think you can do better why don't you go there and ask some questions. Sorry if I boarded you. Last edited by Sam.: on Wed Jul 21, 2004 11:56 pm; edited 2 times in total |

yes editions are bad, even evil. i can't believe the rep said DBZ was the best rating... whoever watched the original ones and then watch the english dubbed ones will find the the dubbed show was trashy. Conan is horrible, pathetic dubbing and bad quality. i really don't give much on airing FMA, i think the DVD might be considerable but i will not watch the TV version....
plus, whoever got .hack//dusk airing on CN was $&^$#.... i can't even stay hearing the dubbing for a minute.... or watching the screen with the characters who were out-of-shape.... |

Ratings and quality have little in common. Just because a show is done poorly doesn't mean it won't become a runaway success. Even though DBZ started as a mish-mash of episodes, it still remains the most popular anime to ever make it to our shores. You may not like the quality, but the popularity is undisputable.

I don't know if this is the right thing to do, its not like I'm trying to advertise SzR, but there have been more updates to the FUNi's talkback page.
http://www.saiyanz-rage.net/funi.html here is some news that was released through the fans questions. If any of you are interested. Mostly none of the answers seem remotely useful, but still there are minor details being revealed everytime, and the FUNi rep is going out of his way to answer s_____d questions. NEWS: - Full Metal Alchemist DVD tentatively scheduled for release January 2005. - FMA official website is located at http://www.fullmetalalchemist.com - It was decided, that the L'Arc~en~Ciel intro would be used for the Adult Swim broadcast. Rep's say that Fullmetal Alchemist will air slightly edited. ^__^; - Right now FUNi is in the process of gathering and developing the Fullmetal Alchemist Web site. The official staff and cast list will make its debut on the website. - Then someone is always gota ask this question although its been answered a million times before/ for some reason I don't know why But I find I a bit humorous. (humourous). - Can you clarify the "legal reasons" for changing Detective Conan and the names? As in, what causes a legal danger to Funi by doing so? ("Legal reasons" is REALLY vague...) A: [FUNi’s Rep:]-- Let's just say it wasn't the word "Detective." There were other considerations on top of any potential "legal reasons." We worked with our Japanese partners very closely on this and Case Closed was the name chosen for the U.S. market. Case Closed. - YYH fans what i understood of the Reps response the reasons there was an increase in time between releases for Yu Yu Hakusho dvds in the past was because Yu Yu Hakusho was rescheduled to air only on Saturday nights on AS. I think that's why they created a gap in the production schedule to give them more time to work on the dvds. FUNi usually releases the DVDs before the respected eps. get aired on TV. Now with more time gap between eps airing on TV, FUNi can concentrate on perfecting the dvds. the dvd eps. have good quality but the dvd Extras are poor and could use some work. Maybe they need some time to work on those. The next DVD comes out August 17th and the 26th YYH DVD will be released on October 5th. There are more news tidbits on TV editing and censorship of anime by AS & FUNi’s (yeah whatever!) go here http://www.saiyanz-rage.net/funi.html To some of you this might seem as bogus news but the FUNi rep is taking pains taking efforts to answer their fans question. Also if you have a question of you own for FUNimation, please go register at the AS forums located here. http://boards.adultswim.com/adultswim/user_signon Then click on the link to be teleported to the “Official Ask FUNimation Thread”. http://boards.adultswim.com/adultswim/tracker?user.id=41568 [edited - mistakes] |

Bad quality? Where? Also, I don't see what is so bad about name changes. And, if your not talking about that then what are you talking about? |

I've never heard or read any comments from Funi about fans accused them of "destroying" DBZ so it was interesting to see what they thought about that.

*sighs* This is why you do NOT argue with the purists. The reasons are the same as EVERY OTHER dubbed anime series and then some. Major dialogue changes, Americanization, paint (OMG FUNI USED PAINT), name changes, and out-of-character like dubbing (in other words, the voices do not match the personalities of the characters. Of course, you usually can't argue about this one because VAs in the US are not taken as nearly as seriously as Japanese seiyuus (NOT dub actors), and thus they have almost no reason to do "good dubbing," which can be defined as dubbing so natural that it almost sounds like casual speech.) |

*sits back and listens to every one gripe gripe gripe* geeze loueze every one thinks they have a thing to say on this I don't agree with name changes but I understood the need for a title change. and as for the dub it's good and peple complaind about it....ha *falls down laughing* that's a laugh every dub won't be to par with the japanese cast that a thing we as fans should get used to. so far in my experence there's only been 4 dubs I hated with a passion, Dominion Tank Police (Acts 1 - 4 from CMP), Tenchi Muyo (the Network dubbed stuff), Dragon Ball (I'll admit that one was crappy), and Evangelion.

Wow! Someone who hates the Case Clased dub. You're the first I've seen in along time.
Alll voices seem ok to me.Each voices matches how each character looks and acts. What's wrong with them? They changed Conan's thoughts to Jimmy, but that makes those scenes so great. |
