With only a page to go the leading contender's score is 50% higher than the second place contender's, whose score is more than 50% higher than the person in third place.

Yeah, this game has gone the way of the Character Guessing Game - from being a quite competitive affair to being dominated by just a couple of people - over the past quarter or so, but this could be a fluke of the round rather than a well-established trend (as it is with the Character Game), as some people who traditionally do well in this game (like me) have really had off rounds. Fortunately the top scorer probably isn't the same in both cases.

I already knew after hint #2 (which is funny, since it isn't that much of a giveaway), but hint #3 confirms it. Well, at least I think I know it; I've often been wrong before despite being positive that I knew the answer. But I've got a good feeling about this answer.
As for people dominating the game, I wonder if it isn't because a lot of the old hands barely participate any more. It seems like the number of regular players has regressed somewhat. I'd be interested in seeing if that's true based on how many people are on errinundra's score sheet. |

^Well, there could be a reason for that. I can tell you I look at almost all the quotes, and I'd guess a lot more if the quotes used were from series I've actually seen.
I think it's because the intersection between the shows the people dominating the game have seen and the shows that I've seen is pretty small, so it self selects for people who have seen certain things. This may be the case for old hands as well. |

I think both of you may be partly right. It does seem like not as many different players are involved as what was happening, say, last year at this time, and it does seem like the current dominant players are much more commonly posting quotes from stuff that I've never seen - repeatedly so for the same series, in some cases.
As for the current quote, I have a couple of ideas but I'll have to wait 'till I get off work to investigate them. |

Character A is spoiler[Kagami], character B is spoiler[Tsukasa, and the anime is Lucky Star. It seems like there was a scene somewhere where Kagami had pulled an all-nighter playing some game. ] |
