It would. But Rin being Rin do you actually think he's gonna make it through this arc without interfering? 'Coz I'll take the other side of that bet.
Episode 2
Wow, that Shiro was quite the dick. I can't wait until Yuri tames him. Like I say this arc has really grabbed me by the lapels of my seersucker suit and is not letting go.

Did I miss an important explanation again? Why does Blue Cross want to give Lucifer a cool new body that can handle this side of Gehenna? They're usually in the business of denying medical coverage (j/k, I'll stop now). I can see Mephisto wanting to help a brother out, literally, but why are the exorcists on board with this and devoting resources and personnel to it?
I feel like I kinda lost the thread somewhere, what with the anime-original ending of the first season and the years wait between that and the follow up.

...and I'm really not a good person to try and answer your question, Gina, given I tend to be somewhat dense when it comes to explanations. Not from a lack of intelligence, generally, but due to a bad memory. However, from what I can glean, they are doing this to prevent some kind of catastrophe that will devastate humanity if Lucifer doesn't get a new vessel. Mephisto used a phrase like, "...the bomb that is Lucifer." I think the idea is they want to get him a new body and then ship him off to Gehenna. I feel like the show recently provided an explanation as to why Lucifer is stubbornly hanging onto his current body as opposed to just finding a new one, but I can't quite remember it - shocker! Something like because of his power, his bodies deteriorate really fast and his tired of it?
My question to the class is are they using the names Lucifer and Satan interchangeably or are those two different characters?

They're two different characters. Lucifer is eldest of the Baal/Kings (Mephisto is second-eldest).
The explanation that Mephisto gave a while back is that when the Baal first got bodies, they found having a body to be way more awesome than not having one. But their bodies were always deteriorating because they were so powerful, and Lucifer fastest of all, so he's in constant pain. (On the other hand, Mephisto is able to slow down his own deterioration because time manipulation.)
None of them want to ditch their body without a new one to move into because then they're leaving getting a new body up to chance. (And they really like having a body.) Lucifer eventually decides that this is garbage and unfair and he's going to blow everyone else up to make things "fair". And so Mephisto goes, "Hold up, calm down, we'll make you a new body."
TLDR they're trying to make Lucifer a new body so he won't go postal. And even if they're failing it's worth it because he won't do anything while he thinks there's still a chance it will work. (Or, alternatively, he'll just give up and go back to Gehenna to get away from the pain, as Mephisto tries to convince him to do this episode.)

Thanks, Darkmagick! I was hoping somebody who knows their Blue Exorcist poop would drop by and fill us in and lo and behold it happened.
