As a Christian myself, who is reading and reviewing Vampire Knight and likes it, it's not super Occultic at all, an example of an Occultic vampire story would be Hellsing. I actually recommend Vampire Knight as an alternative to Twilight, it's a little racy, but I don't find it to be Occulttic, or offensive. The minister probably just looked at the front and back covers and freaked out.

We're not all like this guy, so please remember that, Christians like anime and manga and not all of us get super offended by it. And go Texas for sticking up for its library selection.

By this logic, Lord of the Rings and the Chronicles of Narnia should also be banned, even though their writers were Christian.

Oh yes, let's ban Narnia, which was written by the master Christian Apologist, C.S. Lewis, who converted J.R.R. Tolkien to Christianity!

I think we should ban all books that promote North African religion. Such as the Bible Torah and Koran. There is plenty of evidence that reading them turns people into monsters with no respect for other human beings. Twisted Evil

I'm ever reminded of Dr Quinn's speech in the book burning episode:

The word 'demonic' was frequently used in our house as a way to ban movies, music and books that my parents didn't like. Their efforts backfired and they ended up raising a bunch of long-haired heavy metal, horror and occult nerds who dislike religion and live normal, quiet lives.
Glad I don't live in your neighbourhood. Laughing

Good job he didn't find "Dance In The Vampire Bund" in that library. That could have got the maddening crowd marching to the building with fire torches to burn it down. Laughing

Also, anecdote time: The story at my high school is that there was a parent who every year tried to ban the reading of Fahrenheit 451. Still not sure if that was real irony, or an ironic joke.

Probably a joke.

But the irony of that book (to me at least) is that the first edition was heavily censored by the editor. Just to put icing on the cake, the pages were asbestos so that the book wouldn't burn.
