As a Christian myself, who is reading and reviewing Vampire Knight and likes it, it's not super Occultic at all, an example of an Occultic vampire story would be Hellsing. I actually recommend Vampire Knight as an alternative to Twilight, it's a little racy, but I don't find it to be Occulttic, or offensive. The minister probably just looked at the front and back covers and freaked out.
We're not all like this guy, so please remember that, Christians like anime and manga and not all of us get super offended by it. And go Texas for sticking up for its library selection.
Oh yes, let's ban Narnia, which was written by the master Christian Apologist, C.S. Lewis, who converted J.R.R. Tolkien to Christianity! |

I'm ever reminded of Dr Quinn's speech in the book burning episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xyz2wjaDcjM |

Good job he didn't find "Dance In The Vampire Bund" in that library. That could have got the maddening crowd marching to the building with fire torches to burn it down. |

Probably a joke. But the irony of that book (to me at least) is that the first edition was heavily censored by the editor. Just to put icing on the cake, the pages were asbestos so that the book wouldn't burn. |
