The FFVII Intro Remake for the PS3 was just a video to show the possible capabilities of the PS3. It was not an attempt to promote a remake of FFVII what-so-ever.
These rumors of remake was cause by when someone at Square said they might consider it after E3 05. However, they have their hands full with other projects. Since Square has a history of bring past Final Fantasy back, chances are we might see it on PSP or NDS, just don't get your hopes up for being this or even next year (Although it's rumored for PSP sometime.)

Joel: You might want to try Wal-Mart. I seen atleast 50 copies at our local store.

I preorder my copy from my local gamespot ( I have a membership there so it was cheap like 18 I think total.) anyways pretty good deal, I had seen the original Japanese and it is still a great story for fans of the series. If your into really well done animations I would recommend it for that reason alone.
Like Tony K. stated I am glad that the release was pushed back (if it was because of dubbing) because the dub it extremely fulfilling. A well rounded cast, and each character sounds what I generally thought they would so that was good news. Also the extra's on the disc are awesome if your a FF fan, otherwise stick with the single dvd. The third DVD is the best by far, all the interviews with the different VA was really a nice treat. I remember watching Howls Moving Castle and watching that special feature and thought how it should be on all movies. I mean dubbing is such a strange process and to get a chance to see how it works it awesome.

I didn't have any problems with the sound on feature presentation, I am not sure if you meant you were at a place that had it, or you meant the actually disc itself. But it was quite the treat I will just leave it at that.
Till next time,

Read this months installment of Game Informer. It's not a lock that it will happen, but Square hasn't completely ruled out the possibility of a remake. It defiantly wouldn't come out a the PS3's launch, but it still could happen. And come on, it would be a brilliant thing for Square to do. Any RPG fan deciding between the 360 and the PS3 would most likely go for the PS3 (Except for possibly Elder Scrolls 4 being a deciding factor)

So there's a THIRD DVD set? I was wondering where the VA interviews I heard about were (I got the 2-disc set). Damn.

I'm assuming you didn't get the 2-disc set, as 5.1 DD is the only format for both languages on that disc. If you did get that set, then you had to watch the movie silent.

Like Tony K. said, the dub is excellent. I had watched the Japanese version earlier this year (thanks to our club), and I still think the voices are very well done. Also mentioned was the problem with matching the lip flaps. It's a little awkward watching the English VAs trying to match the Japanese mouth movements. At least Kingdom Hearts II was redone for America, but I'm not saying that should have happened with Advent Children.

I'm not a big fan of Final Fantasy, and especially FFVII, but I still really enjoyed the movie and basically understood most of it.

Ya but the third DVD doesn't even fit in the case with other two dvds, it comes in a standard blank CD case, kinda lame in my opinion but hey it all about the content. And yea I didn't get a chance to watch it all but the interview were with the three famous VA, Steve Burton (Cloud), Mena Suvari (Aerith), and Rachael Leigh Cook (Tifa). But that alright, I hope there is more, but I need some time, but there was this great part where Steve says how he didn't know how big this game was and how big of a production the movie, and how he is the first English Cloud voice. was yatta yatta.....and then he turns and looks at the camera "So I hope I don't screw this up" I was laughing my butt off. But yea try to track that down if you can get it, it definetly for hardcore ANIME and FF fans, but I think Anime fans will enjoy it just to see the VA production.
Till next time,

I was a huge FFVII fan back in the day but c'mon, wasn't that over SIX years ago now? I'd have to play the game all over again just to remember everything that happened. Hmm. You know what, that's actually not a bad idea. My PS finally died for good (flood damage) but I think I still have a functioning PS1 around here somewhere. Anybody remember how to get the gold Chocobo? Very Happy

Even if I haven't played the game in a long time, I still remember a lot of the details, and I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one. I've played through FFVII about 3 times since it's release so I'm set on the original story, even if it has been over a year since I last played it. Tony said there was a brief backstory at the begginning so hopefully thats enough to jar our memmories.

Thanks for recommending Wal-mart Ataru but I already got my copy. I settled for the $20 -$8 Replay Reward Store Credit.

Maybe because there's no actual plot? Advent Children is only about our favourite heroes (to those who played and liked FF VII) in cool graphics and that's it.

There's also a "Reminiscence of Final Fantasy 7" with on the main menu of Disc 1 where it has clips from Final Fantasy 7. They are not the remade clips of the game. They look as they did back on the PS 1. Just make sure you have the subtitles on, but the source is Japanese, and not the English version. Kind of silly if you ask me. A 9 year old game and they used the Japanese verison instead of the English verison. Laz~y.

Edit: Bonk with the baka stick.

No big deal, then. I was hoping for Steve Blum and Beau Billingslea.

I was thinking the same thing, but then realized that that particular extra was probably produced in Japan and Sony didn't have the time (or think it was necessary) to splice in scenes from the English version. Adding a few subtitles is easier, and they kept the same translation, I think.

i don't see remake of FF7. i never see any game being remake anyway.( i could be wrong) There is no evidence of a remake right now.

But there might be a re-release(same game as psx) for psp because SE loves re-release lots of Old games..

Those rumors cause by stupid FF fanboys. i still have the E3 05 video. SE president said "they have no plan of remaking FF7 right now" after showed the FF7 opening video in PS3 conference.

I just finished watching Advent Children and it was awesome. I had spoken with a friend earlier who had picked up and seen his copy already, and he told me it was great. The thing is he has never played FFVII. The only exposure to FF he's had was when he used to watch me play FFX.

While watching, I kept wondering if people who've never played the game had any idea who most of the people were. No background what-so-ever. The beginning with Red XIII (Nanaki) started it all. Did non-fans know he was a character in the game and were they surprised when he talked? What about Cait Sith? Lets not forget Zack and Aeris who's names were never even spoken? Oh and then the Materia.

But in the end it was a real treat for us fans of the game. spoiler[Bahamut] was a big surprise. I never expected spoiler[on him being summoned and specially the fight against him. I put aside my fanboyism in the fact that I knew there were 3 Bahamuts [Bahamut, Neo Bahamut, and Bahamut Zero] and enjoyed the scene and didn't complain that he looked like neither of those 3.] I almost never complain about dubs but I expected better. Maybe it's because I didn't have the surround sound on, it's almost 4am and I watched it around 1am, but the "final fight", don't want to give away too much, felt like not enough emotion was put by the VA's. Oh well it was still great and damn worth the wait... wait... wait... and the wait.
