That was my first thought, when I read the headline, but the actual question is far less obnoxious than the headline implies.

Would like to see anime that bombed in Japan but did well overseas be continued. That could be consided "made" for the overseas market, but still let the author do their thing, and it can go over well.

Well, we just had Space Dandy brought up a few posts ago, which is a case of that. It was continued for only one more season, but it happened.

Yeah, it wasn't that long ago when a Marvel or DC title that averaged 100K in sales a month was on the bubble for cancellation. Nowadays, if a title averages at least 100K a month, it's a cause for celebration!

Or, in the case of shows like One Piece and Naruto stretching it out for as long as possible out of fear that their audiences will leave and never return.

Between the inconsistency of One Piece's animation and the awfulness and redundancy of Naruto's filler I would think they were going for the opposite Rolling Eyes

Okay, then, how about the Animatrix, commissioned by Warner, to cash in on the craze of comparing The Matrix to anime (gee, I wonder why? Rolling Eyes ), based on what was then the late 90's definition that Anime was "Anything that looked cool and fringe-y."

It's not exactly without good reason; I'm certain that the Wachowskis are on record about anime being one of their inspirations.
