And here is Funi's counterattack on Crunchyroll.

Sony and Hulu money. FUNi is playing it big.
I don't really care for Hulu since I'm Canadian, but they confirmed every show will still be on FUNimation, so good for them. A bigger audience.

This doesn't look good for Toonami if Hulu gets first dibs on every Funimation show.

Well Toonami and Crunchyroll seemed to have formed a partnership so i think they will be fine. Maybe.

Interesting choice given that Sony is one of the only two major studio conglomerates that does NOT have a stake in Hulu, though I guess it’s not so surprising seeing as how Aniplex has placed a lot of their shows on Hulu recently. It’ll be interesting to see how Sentai responds, as they have a pretty big Hulu presence as well.

Unless Sentai is bought by a huge conglomerate, they are not a threat to Funimation. Sentai has sadly (at least for me) become a distant third behind CR and Funi for most important R1 anime distributor.

A deal with Hulu makes sense from a business perspective and it should help Funimation in terms of getting more licenses. For a moment the statement about Hulu getting first pick had me a bit concerned but since it is a co-exclusive deal the anime that Hulu picks will be on both services.

"Global" in this instance meaning "available in at least two countries", I anticipate. Hulu has never quite been a trailblazer in geographical accessibility.

Netflix is $11 for HD streaming. CR is $7 for far less content. Hulu is $7.99 with commercials, but for $12 a month you get weekly simulcasts of every show, including US TV shows with no ads.
So really it's comparing to Netflix
Netflix: 11 a month but new anime only comes in on a monthly basis or less frequently. Weekly content is only for netflix-created shows (not netflix original anime)
Hulu: 12 a month gets you new anime weekly from Funimation, Sentai, and others. It also gives you weekly/daily updates for US TV shows like The Voice, or whatever else it is people watch these days on western TV.
It's not a bad deal at all.
Hulu was already my go-to for streaming anime simply because it had anime from multiple services all in one place. This should make things even better.

Wait, does this mean Funimation themselves won't even stream the shows they license?? I literally just bought a 12 month sub to Funimation....
Edit:

Nevermind. Just saw this. Whew.
That is nice that they will start getting simuldubs. I have several friends that wanted to see the My Hero Academia S3 dub after they watched the first 2 on Hulu, but they only have the sub for now for that season until Funi releases them on bluray.

I don't think it is a partnership so much as Toonami sublicensing shows for broadcast. Toonami has made an effort to spread around airtime among various companies for a while since people pointed out early on that it was basically "the Funimation block."
I wouldn't be surprised if Toonami was something that Funimation took into consideration when making this deal, though.

That, and we might not be looking at a delay in the simuldub of Attack on Titan going forward. Seasons 2 and 3 started late compared to everything else because they premiered on Toonami, which meant waiting for a spot to open in the lineup.

Yeah, no kidding. Guess I'll have something to actually watch on it aside from Twin Peaks!

I would expect a lot more Crunchyroll content on Toonami since they are both under Warner Media.
