I just made an account simply so i could express how unbelievably good Witch Blade is. This was the saddest series I've ever seen, and easily surpasses anything else i've seen in my sixteen years.

This anime is brilliant.

Watch it alone and let whats happening take you away.

Must see.

Enough said.

This is what I wrote in My Anime:

Excellent
A series that has enough action AND fanservice to satisfy anyone; it also doesn't pull its punches -- it ends with a heartache.

I'm sorry but you're a hater dude lol
You like the popo

Anyway, yeah this thread might get locked, but I think we should give this person a great experience. I mean cmon its his or her 1st post. Welcome the person to the...family.

Anyway normally you're suppose to write why you like it. Not just say "I like it." Me personally I didn't like it, never will, why did top cow ever think their comics would make good animes oO. Yeah I read the book so seeing how the manga/anime does not follow the comic...well yeah epic fail. I don't think their was any blood or gore in that anime too. Was there? If not it was definitely a failure. Witchblade is a story about girls kicking ass. More specifically, torture, quartering, decapitations, entrails, demons, I mean real demons, darkness, guns, drugs, I mean real drugs, and yeah sex/ wise crack comments. The anime turned that and pgfied it lol. So yeah fail.

oh watev u werent being sarcastic. Oh well too lazy.

Nah, keep talking. I don't think I've seen too many Witchblade topics around, so maybe this can turn into something.

Well I disagree with ShinobiX.

At first thats what i thought Witchblade was about, Tits and ass.

Once i let go of perverted thinking and finished the series i realized. That whole thing was about love.

Not action. Because there was hardly any of that.
Not Tits and ass. Although there was plenty.

spoiler[Mesane was a heroine and sacrificed herself for the well being of her daughter..
And it simply ended.]

She never asked for the witchblade.
And all the whole series was truly about was masane caring for her daughter.

And the reason i cried when it ended was because spoiler[i could very well imagine myself sacrificing everything for someone i loved.]

I stand by my statement that Witch Blade is one of the best anime made

I say forget the book and embrace what they created.

Isnt that what anime is about?
Being able to create and embrace new things freely?[/quote]

[EDIT: Spoiler tags added. - Key]

I don't know if i would say that Witchblade is my favorite Anime. But it is a highly respectable Drama with some touching moments. And a good example of how fanservice dousn't have to interfere with a good plot. I would also suggest spoiler tagging some of the details of the above post.

I wouldn't consider Witchblade one of my favorites of all time, but it's up there with some of the best. Looking at the DVD covers, you think it's going to be some corny fanservice anime that features characters with gigantic chests and wearing 'hardly there' clothing. But... like others have already said it's much more than that.

I love how much Masane loved her child and did what she did all for her. The characters were developed very well. The personalities were varied and believable, and everyone added something special to the series. And honestly (this is coming from a females point of view BTW) I think the scantily clad Witchblade characters were necessary. It went along with their personality and 'lust' for the fight. To them, a battle was like sex wasn't it? At least that's the impression I got.

This is a series that I recommend to just about anyone. It's entertaining and well done. Very fun to watch.

It was an excellent series, though the ending wasn't what I expected, depressing really, however, I felt it fitting and don't knock it. The relationship between Masami and her daughter was the main draw for me, but it also had good action and an interesting overall story.

I'm suprised that the series is getting so much praise in this topic, since I was rather disappointed with it. The story wasn't very interesting, nor were much of the characters in the series. The animation wasn't anything to write home about, and even though I love me a good drama, the drama in this series or the character interactions just didn't feel powerful enough to really provoke any emotion.

I watched it as it came on IFC, and I even tried to give a second go around even despite not enjoying it the first time, but it was just boring. :/

spoiler[So you're trying to tell me that a mother who puts her life on the line day in and day out all so her and her child (who isn't even her biological daughter) can live a good life, and then said mother dies protecting her to the very end, isn't powerful enough? You, sir, have an ice box where your heart used to be. AN ICE BOX, I SAY!]

I had a pretty good cry (my first in a long time) at the end of this series and I'm happy to see other people liked it as well. Honestly, since I've don't see much talk about the show at all, I thought people would dislike it and only see it as a boobfest, but I'm glad others were able to look past all of that.

My only knock is that Gonzo went overboard with the boobs. I don't mind large breast, but I feel anything beyond DD is too much, with FF being way too much. I think you could've taken down the chest sizes down two cups and still gotten the same effect.

Lolz, I shoulda seen this one coming. I mean, I can understand how others can feel some serious emotion because of the thing you just stated, but it just didn't resonate with me, ya know? :/ It's like I'm sittin' there watching this show, thinking 'I should be feeling something,' but I didn't feel much at all.

And about your ice box comment(lol), that can't be the case seeing as since I've watched Witchblade, there have been a number of moments in anime were I've seriously felt for the characters and the situation they're in. I guess since the show itself was bad I feel much anything for the characters in the show. Confused

I thought Witchblade was better than it had any right to be, but honestly in my opinion I find it difficult to believe that someone can call something a masterpiece when it has a character like that old engrish spouting pervert guy that was wearing a hawaiin shirt in it...

Give blackacid a break -- for chrissake, he's only 16 years old! Surprised Why don't you give him a chance to grow a little?! Mad Evil or Very Mad

EDIT: Upon further review, I see that nobody actually used the term "masterpiece"; so if you were not referring to blackacid, then I retract the above admonition.

While not what I would rate a masterpiece, I think Witchblade was much better than it appeared to be. Most people, from looking at the box, probably would think it's soft-core pr0n. I tend to agree that, at its most powerful, it's a mother-daughter love story.

Of course it's cute when Riko turns the tables and acts like the adult in her relationship with Masane, but you could tell how deep Masane's love for Riko was when spoiler[child welfare took Riko away. If any of the clone blades had attacked immediately after Riko left, Masane wouldn't have lifted a finger to defend herself -- that's how defeated and gutted she was. Huge kudos to the writers, animators and directors for letting Masane's malaise drip off the screen.]

And then came the ending. Just when I thought spoiler[there might be a happy ending for Masane and Riko, they drop Masane's death on me. It was always implied the Witchblade drained its user's life, but I began to believe maybe Masane could dodge her destiny.]

If they ever make a sequel to Witchblade, I believe spoiler[adult Riko] would be the next rightful heir to the weapon. Whether she would have Masane's epic cleavage, however, would be up to the animators.
