Can anyone tell me, has this series been cancelled by Viz? I have really enjoyed this series up till now and with only 5 volumes left find it hard to believe that it has been cancelled. I hope this is not the case. An omnibus of the last five volumes would be ok. I'm not a fan of scantilation sites. I think people should support the artists and buy the books but if the series has been cancelled I may have no other choice in order to finish the series. Also, I have been to the viz site but there is nowhere that I can find where I can ask them directly. As there was no preview of next issue in volume 14, it does make me a little nervous. But it also means that before this volume came out, Viz knew that it would be stopping the series. Why not make an announcement that they are dropping series. At least the consumer would be able to decide whether or not to keep buying volumes up to that point. I apologize, i've started rambling. But again, does anyone know what's going on with this series?

I don't think Viz has ever (or would ever) officially canceled a series unless they actually lost the license—they may put a low-selling title on hold until sometime in the indefinite future when they're in a better position to release it. Though I've heard that with a couple series recently, Viz has announced a volume as the "final volume" when there are still more available in Japanese, which seems odd and kind of dishonest to me (but I don't know if anything like that was announced for Strawberry 100%).

My favourite series from Viz, Kaze Hikaru, had v18 released this past August, and then v19 was listed on Amazon for August 2011—a full year later. I think Excel Saga is on a yearly release too (last was in April?), so maybe Strawberry is another similar case. It's sad, but I guess all we can do is wait and keep buying whatever releases there are, and hope for the best... and get everyone we know to buy the series :D

Those series with the false "final volume" listings on them had issues going on in Japan that prevented Viz either voided Viz's initial contract for the series, or prevented Viz from being legally allowed to distribute the manga.

I don't know what's going on with Strawberry 100%, but since Viz just picked up the anime this year, I couldn't imagine them cancelling it. I know Reborn is under a similar situation, but it looks as though Viz is transferring it to the magazine and likely, the main Shonen Jump line.

Strawberry 100% volume 14 was published October 5, 2010.

Volume 15 is listed as January/February 2011.

Oh, is that what it was? I don't follow any of those series, so I'd only heard rumours. Thanks for clarifying!!

Yup, in the case of Zatch Bell, it's artist had a falling out with the japanese publisher [Shogakukan], and with Kurohime, it's magazine [Monthly Jump] got cancelled, leading it to move to online serialization, which apparently affected VIZ's license for new volumes.

Strawberry Panic looks to be quarterly, which is how most of VIZ's manga are released.

And in the case of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure they were only planning to publish the third arc of the series anyway. I'm guessing that if it had sold better they would have released the rest of the series too, but that obviously didn't happen (I'm as guilty as the rest of you).

As for Bastard!!, that may or may not have been cancelled because Viz chickening out due to the content of the later volumes.

animenewsnetwork.com/house-of-1000-manga/2010-10-07 Yeah, that sounds to be part of why VIZ cancelled it based on Jason Thompson's House of 1000 Manga entry on it.

http://www.anime3000.com/features/manga-corner/629-manga-corner-with-jason-thompson.html Though this podcast does touch upon the reasons why VIZ and Tokyopop choose to cancel manga nowadays, and why it's not a bad thing in some ways.

Have you noticed any other series that have "disappeared" from Viz? B.O.D.Y. 11 was set to come out on Nov 2, but the listing has been deleted from Amazon and also no longer appears on the list of November releases on the Viz site. There are only 4 volumes left, and I would be so frustrated if it were canceled!

I'd suggest waiting for a bit, it could be it was rescheduled. I could see them moving less popular series to a twice a year schedule too.

I hope that's the case... they have stuff listed out through May though on Amazon and it's not there. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

I'm not going to lie, I like Strawberry 100%, it's pretty funny, even if it's over-the-top fanservice. But it's really nice to see a female mangaka's take on the fanservice-y harem genre, lol.

I wholeheartedly agree. It has a lot more romance development then most fanservice mangas.

Yes! I love how she uses some popular tropes and turns them upside-down.

Also, I can not find volume 4 in my local Border's- nor on eBay, and Amazon's listing it at $55 as the lowest price. I'm not dropping that much money on a book ffs. Is this the only volume that's scarce/oop? If so, has anyone had luck being able to purchase it recently? I'd go ahead and buy the other volumes, but I'm a bit paranoid about the cancellation rumors, and the fact that I can't get a hold of this volume.

Is volume 4 out of print? Wow, it seems like only came out a little while ago.
