The Rurouni Kenshin OVA was probably the bloodiest thing I've ever seen tv or not but because of the way Kazuhiro Furuhashi directed it, every death almost feels like an art form rather then brutish violence.

I'm sure Bastard was pretty gorey but I have yet to see more then a preview of it on a Newtype disc I think.

But still, Kenshin gets my vote as most violent

You mean Samurai X right? The OVA was pretty bloody, the series wasn't very objectionable at all.

I've seen both of the originals, and they are pretty violent and the adult content adds to that...a lot. So the edited one might be tamer.

All of the adult content is taken out of the edited versions, right? Great, I might watch them after all.

Yes, I meant Samurai X but please PLEASE call it Rurouni Kenshin OVA's.

Samurai X is simply the bad American dub name due to copyright or something.

But yes, I do mean Samurai X/Rurouni Kenshin.

Kite is...different. It has 3 versions of it. The one which has 10 or so minutes of adult content...the directors cut that doesn't have the adult content and made for older teens (but still has other scenes removed), and the totally uncut one (which has everything)

Yes, Kite is a particularly graphically violent anime in any version; it would be in my Top 5 for Most Violent Anime. I think you may have the versions mixed up, though. The Director's Cut, which is hentai and released by a different distributor because of that, is the one with the extra 10 minutes or so of explicit sexual content. As for the supposed "totally uncut" 3rd version, it's been my understanding that such a version either doesn't exist or has never been released because it would run into problems with child pornography laws.

Anyway, besides those two, did anyone see Battle Angel Alita and think it was very violent?

It is violent, but nowhere near as extreme as the manga. There are *much* more graphic anime out there.

For the person who mentioned Bastard, it is quite graphic at points (at least one scene in it will make anyone cringe). It is best seen in the older fansubbed version, where the '80s heavy metal references are intact, rather than the edited (even in sub form) official release. Fortunately I was blessed to see it again that way at a convention just this past weekend. Very Happy

Ninja Scroll (the movie) and Fist of the North Star rank are two of the most graphic and violent anime ever made. Anyone who doesn't think so probably hasn't seen them. I would also put 3x3 Eyes pretty high on that list.

Actually, I'd say it's more of crappy, bastardizing, but marketable misnomer.

Yes, I hate that name with a passion, but that's the way things go, I suppose. Razz

I call it "Rurouni Kenshin: Tsuioku-hen". Wink

More additions for Elfien Lied I think by the end of the series its gonna go ahead of berserk in level of splatter probly becouse atleast in Berserk you didn't get any detail in blown/ripped off body parts.

It has such great sadistic lines to

spoiler[Nana (missing one arm): (thinking to self) it hurts it hurts, Lucy approches, Nana: that didn't hurt!!
Lucy: How about now *there go the other arm*

Ah ha, I did get them mixed up...oops ^_^; but how about this? Got this from here: "Two versions were initially released: a "General Release" version (rated 16-Up) and a "Director's Cut" version (rated 18-Up), which contains nearly 10 minutes of explicit footage. This Director's Cut version, however, is missing some scenes found in the original Japanese release. A third release, labeled "Special Edition", contains Kite in its original, uncut form."

I haven't really seen that many anime that's really too completely violent, like on an R-rated level or anything, but I have seen some. Ruroni Kenshin OAV and Ninja Scroll are definitely ones I agree are deserving of being on that list. Only Ninja Scroll I'd have to say is on top of that list, followed by Hellsing at #2, at least in ones I've seen, anyways. Although the Evangelion movies come pretty close, as does Blood: The Last Vampire and Blood +, as well as Trinity Blood. Akira, maybe. (yeah, not very much, like I said.)

From my experience the Kenshin OVA that everyone is referring to is the most violent. However I haven't seen all of the mentioned anime's including Berserk.
