Ouch... I thought Kiba was extremely good. I love the dub for Kiba also (I guess because I'm a English Dub lover ).

I watched Omamori Himari on Crunchy Roll people where complaining in episode one about the gratuitous panty shots. I quit watching after episode six when the whole water demon Loli fan service "intimate healing" went down.
Then aftwer three months I watched the rest of it and there where entire parts where it's Yuto essentially being sexually harassed by almost all the female characters to try to get him to become a more powerful mage. The main problem with the series is it didn't know whether it wanted to be an ecchi harem show or a martial arts tournament show and it just ended up a big confused fan servicey mess

*looking a photo* Is Bandai releasing its sets in sleeves now? Ick. Kinda makes me glad I picked up the first, sub-only Gurren Lagann releases.
Edit: (No criticism aimed at the collection, of course )

I think your views are similar to Bamboo's but your writing style has tended to be different.
I like this article, though. I've always felt you've written these with too much thought as to where you should categorize something for its hypothetical audience, rather than keeping it personal. When you start recommending something in one breath and then saying you didn't like it in the other, it's confusing and not helpful. This article, though, felt straight from the heart.

Am I the only one picking up a heavy Salem's Lot vibe from Shiki?

You too? And I thought I was the only person who did that.

Yeah, this seems to be in line with what I've generally heard about Shiki. Certainly a decent show. Not exactly great though. Definitely not something to get especially fired up over on par with Tatami Galaxy of House of Five Leaves.

I've seen someone else say that too and, I've forgotten where I've read this so I'm going from memory here, they said it was very similar and to not look at the summary on wikipedia just in case that spoils some of Shiki's plot. I'm loving Shiki right now since, while the vampires are fairly traditional, with all the twists and contrivances that every author and there dog have put in it's nice to see something a little different and familiar at the same time (plus, the novels were written in the 90s, although considering the anime is following the manga adaption instead I'm not sure how close it is to the LNs).

I love these small collections too. One doesn't have to have a huge or mountain sized collection of anime in order to love it.

Not really, those sleeves contain two DVD volumes (so the sleeves really are throw-away, but some like to keep them I guess), and all 6 volumes fit inside the artbox (which comes with the LE release of Vol. 1-2, but the collection owner apparently didn't buy that version).
I find it odd that he says he's a fan of Geneon DVDs, but his only one is Trigun. FUNimation seems to be the highest percentage of his collection.

as opposed to the special camera up-skirt angles invented in Najica Blitz Tactics
Uh, Agent Aika actually invented those. Both made by the same studio and were both filled to the brim with panty shots, but Aika came quite a few years before Najica.

Himari couldn't even deliver on the fanservice. No nipples? Horrible show.

The hate for Kiba and it's dub hurts me deeply as I liked both...

In my opinion, Shiki is the best show out of the summer. I love the subtlety aspect of it. The writer managed to make it scary, while at the same time completely normal.

I thought the characters of Shiki taking a long time to conclude on the existence of vampires worked well enough for the show, because the whole point was that everyone keeps their minds grounded in the 'real world.' Of course it would take people a long time to accept it. However, I find it funny how these same people encounter the Shiki and say things like they 'otherwise look normal', without any regards to their creepy, abyssal eyes, their pale skin notwithstanding.
One thing Shiki deserves credit for is that it contains female characters that are various in appearances, both attractive and realistic-looking, which is so rare in Anime. I wonder what made this series so special that they could get away with it, and makes me wish they could do this more often everywhere.
