If they are going to try and fill this position, I will apply to it this time. It's high time that a real otaku is in charge!

Would it be wrong to say "THANK GOD!"?
Nay. THANK GOD. We need someone much better now, to make it's first anniversary a blast! |

Honestly, exactly what did (or didn't) this guy do that was bad? If it's a long list, just break down in a nutshell. I can't possibly be as bad as what happened with the HP CEO and Java. 20 Million dollar settlement and a massive amount of angry and lawyer speak. |

To be honest, I don't really know all the official details and, other than the angry attendees and dealers, I also don't really know. I was generally happy with this year's show, but I was also not there the whole time as I was with clients. Some of the stuff I hear about, on the forums and in person when talking to attendees seem like something I can fix and would fix. There is also a split between people who want to see it grow and people who want it to shrink. I am part of Team Grow, but I'm also not someone who wants it to grow just for money's sake, but for the benefit of the attendee and the anime industry and those who contribute to it (ie. dealers/artist alley/anime clubs). There are stuff I would like to bring back, stuff to expand on and stuff to introduce. Whatever wrongs the previous CEO did was the past and should be noted, but the most important thing is looking to the future of AX in my hands. |

He basically stole large amounts of money for his own personal use and ran the organization (which I believe is a non-profit organization) like an evil executive out of a Hollywood movie. The whole article on the corporate scandal is here: animenewsnetwork.com/news/2010-01-11/multiple-anime-expo-staffers-resign-in-board-dispute If you don't want to read the whole thing, the highlights that point to the man's personality and corruption are quoted here:

Yeah, yeah! And I also know for a fact that he killed kittens, drew naughty tentacles on photos of Miyazaki, and urinated on a Naruto plushie! I have 374 pages of proof! What-the-f*ck-ever. He's gone now. Declare victory and move on. Last edited by xstylus on Sun Sep 26, 2010 5:12 am; edited 1 time in total |

good riddance to such a bad person, I met him at anime expo and first thing I thought was this guy doesn't know a damn thing and at his last job at santa anita mall this guy was already causing problems.
Let's just hope the SPJA realizes its mistakes and fixes it since the on yr loser CEO put alot more debt on them |

It's funny, because there are people doing similar things at a insignificant little con in my home of Nashville. Wish the con was big enough for them to feel some heat.
Been following this on ANN and other sites for a while, and I have to say, this sounds like good news, assuming he doesn't get replaced with someone else of equality ridiculous vision and indifference. |

That would depend on his severance package. |

Everything's still in a state of utter distress and AX has gone to hell in a handbasket. Where is this "victory" of which you speak? |

Perhaps now the con which has gone astray of it's original path can either now die, or be reborn. I see victory in that. You have to admit, the quality and missions statement of the SPJA has deteriorated rapidly in the last five to six years. Not all change is good. AX stopped treating Japanese animation as an art form. The entire point of the con almost. They really lost their way into a giant corporate circle jerk. (I usually don't mind corporate sponsorship. You get a free booth, screen time, ect...but should NOT be making policy requests to the con.) This is going to get more on the opinions side of things, but perhaps anime cons simply were not ever meant to reach the size of AX. Maybe staying cloaked in the shadows and keeping our sub-culture underground was for the best in the long term. Who knows. |

I see potential, myself. A far cry from victory. Or defeat, by that token... |

LMAO...This was soooooo gonna happen after the meltdown/walkout in December.
AX could have stopped it early, but NOOOO they backed this loser CEO. A lot of mission critical DHs and staff walked out when this Lattanzio opened his mouth. |
