Alright.... Real quick question:

In Wolf's Rain, I understand that the wolves are, in fact wolves. However, they also appear as people. Now... what I want to know is why the heck do they flash from wolf to person to wolf all the time? Even during fight scenes, they are people, jumping around and having a heck of a time, and all of the sudden, there's a close-up of a wolf taking someone's arm off.... and then it zooms out to one of the kids standing by the body. Now: are they actually changing back and forth extremely quickly or is this just a case of how the animators wanted to depict the characters? It's messin' with my head, man! Shocked

The human forms of the wolf's are nothing but an illusion or a spell they cast on the humans.

It's more of showing the different perspective of the moment in my opinion. They tend the "flash" for us is so we see that the reality between what is actually supposed to be there (the wolves) and what the humans see (the illusion that they're 4 boys.)

I think it's cool though the flashing, totally fits the series. Allthough sometimes the timing of the flashes is indeed weird.

But hold up... If it's a disguise to hide them from real humans, then how 'come the humans keep realizing that they're wolves, and also see them in their wolf form sometimes (usually when the wolves are attacking)?

It's been a while since I've seen the show, but I think it was based off what exactly a person believes, and how gullible they are. When the wolves attack, a person who already sees them as human will continue to see them as human, but they'll be stuck with wounds an animal made.

Also, people who aren't in a good state of mind (inebriated, mental illness) can see through the disguise.

I really liked the fact that they did the whole illusion thing rather than simply made it through transformation. It really adds to the mystic feel of the series.

Here's what I think: when the scene changes between wolf and human, if some other human in the scene has a look of surprise on their face (or something of the sort), then the wolves "actually" changed, in my opinion. In scenes without other people to use this rule (of thumb) by, you just have to come to your own conclusions.

Hey! That's what I do now Very Happy. My sisters are the ones who always need to know why they're changing, it really ruins the mood when they start asking about it.

In my opinion its really to stress the difference between their actions and their appearance. On the one hand they appear to be as normal human beings but when in the midst of battle they become more ferocious and ruthless. You begin to see their animal instincts. For the people witnessing this first hand, it becomes appearant that these arent ordinary people, but for the viewers at home illustrating this is a bit more difficult. In order to show that the keiba and the others are acting like wolves they decided to show them in wolf form. I guess it gives us a view from the on-lookers perspective.
