I've never seen the show, but when I watch the trailers on Geneon DVDs, it looks so terrible. I cringe just watching those trailers. Oh well, I'm not buying it.

It was interesting, but I paid $4 per dvd, so I didn't have all that much invested.
There is so much else they could rescue from Geneon. |

FUNimation rescues the license for Disgaea but are they bad enough dudes to rescue President Ronnie?

As a huge Disgaea fanboy myself, it is my obligation to Double dip and buy this! lol.
It would be nice if FUNI gave us a Bonus with it (like an ETNA Pin-up Poster..lol. But yea, given the show is basically just a 12 epiosde commercial for the games (which are indeed much better), but its decently enjoyable to watch, I would suggest this to anyone who wants somthing short & fun. |

Ashamed as I am to admit it, I liked this anime. I laughed at every stupid joke they threw, and chuckled at the visual humor as well. (Seriously, who wouldn't laugh at those exploding prinnies?)

I love the games, I bought the promotion DVD... never got the series as it was terribly disappointing compared to the promo footage (which had better animation quality and started off closer to the story of the game).

It'll work like their other rescues, they'll re-release the show keeping the dub intact. The only time I can think of where they went back and made their own dub was with One Piece, and that was because the 4Kids version was so bad and it was practically mandatory if they wanted that show to sell at all. |

Oh God. The Disgaea anime was pretty awful. Just buy the game instead of wasting your money on this.

I really don't get why people hate this anime.
Being a massive Disgaea fan(something others who hate the show claim to be) I don't see how anyone could not like the anime if they liked the game. The humor is exactly the same and the animation is pretty close to that of the games intro as well. For those who liked the English voice cast that's the same as well(which is a love it or hate it kind of thing). There are tons of in jokes and references to the game and it's just a great show for fans of the game. I had put off watching it because of all the negative things I had heard about it and just today watched the first episode on Funi.com and I was wondering what people were complaining about. It's pretty much exactly what a Disgaea anime should have been. Maybe it gets worse or something after the first few episodes or something but based on that 1st episode I thought it was exactly what a Disgaea anime should have been. Honestly don't see why people claiming to be fans still hated it. I don't know how you could like the game and not the anime unless you were only playing the game for the game play which would be kinda odd. |
