I remember someone saying that it sucked, plot-wise. Animation though was fantastic.
I'm waiting to buy/see it myself. |

Basically...if you liked the parts of the Matrix Reloaded where the story stopped dead in its tracks and everyone sat around quoting from Philosophy 101 textbooks for no reason, you'll love Innocence.

Oh great I just had some idiot Matrix fan argue with me that the film was too "sophisticated" for the public

Those people are still around? I thought the Matrix fanboys all disappeared after Revolutions.

yeah your looking real dumb right now. That Matrix fan was probably right. Matrix was too complicated for the general public to understand. Do some research on it before you talk. In fact the critics didn't even understand the movie, therefore both Matrix Reloaded/Revolutions were given bad rattings. The critics weren't ready for a movie of this magnitude.. anways.. lets get back to the GitS topic. --- Bandai has released a new trailer for Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex PS2 game. Those interseted might want to check it out. |

The problem wasn't that I didn't understand the Matrix sequels, on the contrary. It's just that they were about as deep as a mud puddle but tried to pass themselves off as the Pacific ocean.
And if critics weren't ready for a movie of that magnitude, then how come they continually praise 2001, The Seventh Seal, Wings of Desire and the like? |

Hence my laughter . The Wachowski's brought in to their own hype. I liked reloaded despite the fact that it didn't make a whole lot of sense. I was hoping it would all be brought together in revolutions but unfortunately it wasn't, instead we were presenting with poorly written tripe. As for GITS:2 from peoples reactions so far it seems like it isn't going to live up GITS. Apparently Oshii focus's a tad to much on the philosophy side of things. Still I'm looking forward to it. |

I'm a big GITS fan but the one bad thing I could say about the first movie and SAC is that its very dialogue and plot heavy. Now this may just be my lack of intelligence but I had to watch the movie a good 6 times before I got the general idea of what was going on in some scenes, I watch it now and I'm still confused by some parts, same for the series, regardless of this I love everything about GITS, one of my favourite anime/series/movies of all time.
As for the second movie I haven't seen it yet, I could guess it wasn't going to be straightforward by any means judging from the previous movie and series. Even if it is overly philosophical and difficult to follow, I think i'll still love it if not solely for the animation. Can anyone explain to me what exactly 'Stand Alone Complex' is? i've seen all of season one and I know its explained at the end of that series but i'm thick and can't grasp overly complex theories unless they're digested into more digestible digestives. |

well, there is something really simple that I noticed about Stand Alone Complex. They have two different types of eps, standalone episodes which are just standalone and don't really pretain to the plot. Then there are the complex eps which add directly to the main plot of the series.
This probably doesn't answer question, but I thought that it was a pretty dang ingenious way to incorporate the name of the series into the series itself. While I will agree that the movie was somewhat confusing, it was not as bad for as it was for you, so I guess I kind of have a hard relating to what you are saying. ~LoneWolf |

My take on it is that basically the plot is about spoiler[the Laughing Man, and his plan, which is the complex part. And then there are the people who are trying to imitate the Laughing Man, but they are not a part of his "complex" plan, their actions are stand alone to the actions of the Laughing Man, who's actions are interconnected to one another.] |

I havnt seen it but im going to go see it or buy it on dvd which ever one is more convienent. Speaking of Matrix people and stuff they should have ended it after the first one and possibly they could have kept animatrix. Yeah people who see are Matrix fanboys really love trying to act extremely deep even though they are more shallow that a baby's pool.

May I suggest a soup bowl? I think it's as shallow as that. Yet it's deep enough that if you fall face first in it, you'd drown in your soup. That's what happening to some of the fanboys out there. To them, it's deep. But I can't even sink my finger in it. Never liked the Matrix franchise. Watched the first installment and it was like "Oh, that's it?". About what "Stand Alone Complex" means. I think both Kazuki-san's and Lone Wolf's explanations are correct. We have the copy-cat criminals, they're stories are the "stand alone" episodes. The greater Laughing Man arc form the "complex" stories. |
