According to this news article on ANN:
animenewsnetwork.com/news/2010-07-09/princess-resurrection-messenger-from-the-sea-moteki-promos-streamed the Princess Resurrection anime due out Dec 2010 is an OAD, not an OAV - or does OAV in the encyclopedia cover OAD, but not in the news articles? |

OAD is a new acronym coined by Japanese distributors as Japanese tend to restrict "Video" in OAV as "video tapes" e.g. VHS or Betamax. Thus technically speaking all OAD are OAV (in US English term). |

I thought OAD (Original Animation DVD) was pretty specific to Kodansha and their manga tie-ins.

Thanks for the clarification - I was just concerned because the news article said one thing and the entry said another, but now that I know OADs are listed as OAVs in the encyclopedia, or rather, that the acronyms are interchangable, my mystery has been solved. =)
